Unless my mind just made words up, I'm fairly certain the radio was describing what happened in Noah's neighborhood. How else do you explain the box truck full of hacked up body parts that were clearly the missing parts of the other parts scattered throughout the neighborhood?

it could have been Tyreese remembering the radio transmissions he heard in the beginning of the outbreak.

This is how I interpreted it. I took it as Cutty making himself listen to the news broadcasts after shite started hitting the fan because his dad always made him listen to them when he was younger. He said his dad did that to make sure that they knew what was going on and how horrible things can be sometimes, and so I think he made himself listen to them to try to self-adjust to everything that was happening.

IIRC, one of the transmissions was about people being cannibals and trying to eat/bite other people. Then one was about a group of people killing innocent civilians with machetes. Then there was another one I think about a group advancing and setting things on fire in their path. I believe there were one or two more as well, but I am struggling to remember what they said. If someone can go back and transcribe the broadcasts, it could help..

Also, I couldn't tell if the spraypaint said "Wolves not far" or "Wolves not fair." Far makes more sense.

Overall, the time was about on par with any other show, but that whole 4 minute/4 minute break thing was ridiculous.

Yeah that's right on the money of being normal. I guess there are tons of people in here that watch it straight up live instead of recording it and watching it sans commercials. I don't remember the last time I watched a show live and had to sit through commercials.

Possibly, but they were all things that Ty experienced while in our viewership (with his own group, with the Governor and with Rick's group).

Cannibalism, setting people on fire, hacking people up, torture...he had seen all of that occur. I couple this with the good/bad character hallucination that his subconscious created to help him come to terms with everything he had suppressed before he died.

I think the neighborhood thing is something altogether different. I just realized the "W" on the foreheads is the same mark as those marks on the trees we saw in the first half of this season.

hell maybe even the death would have had more of an impact had he died doing something noble, but no it was due to him being a dumb frick and staring into some picture. Instead of sorrow, we're just like "fricking idiot"

That just would not make sense. There is no radio anymore. He was hallucinating, and unless he got super powers, how could he know what was done?

I interpreted it as him playing the radio in his head like he thought it would have sounded as if it was a news report. He saw the neighborhood as he was chasing Noah. I think he was just playing it as he thought it would be read on the radio but it was all in his head.

i think the radio was either things he had heard through the years about other places or maybe the news when the outbreak began.

i do think we are supposed to make a connection that what has happened in these news flashes (don't they mention the word "villages"? making me think it's a foriegn war clip or something, nam maybe?) are paralleled by things the group has done/encountered.

maybe a tie btwn war and the ZA?

how humanity isn't really present in either?

who knows, i think it's left open to the audience's interpretation. which i'm ok with and also probably in the minority it would seem.

Darryll / Beth @ Moonshine shack. Tyrese / Carol saw the smoke.

A transcription of the calls would be great. I took it as the events fo Ricks group but told as a broadcast in a neutral 3rd party way.

Maybe I'm too "simple" - I am a gump after all - but it was fairly obvious to me that the "radio news breaks" were Ty's conscious replaying everything he has participated in and seen since the ZA started.

That's the only reason they had him tell that story about his dad making him listen to news stories no matter how horrifying they were.

Otherwise, that set of lines is just pointless.

It reminded me of Rick talking to all his "dead friends" on the phone in the prison - just the viewers getting to watch the "life flashing before the eyes" of a dying man or in Rick's case, a man ready to die.

I loved the episode. I thought it was a unique way to show us where the group is now and get us settled with the fact that almost three weeks have passed and they are 600 miles from where we last saw them without making us sit through three tedious "on the road episodes".

Seems like he was just hearing old radio news his father and him listened to, now that I found the transcripts. Like I was guessing before.

Transcript of radio transmission from another message board.

There have been troubling reports of cannibalism having broken out in refugee camps along the republic's transportation corridor. And despite the string of victories by rebel forces, there are disturbing reports of increasing the brutality of their tactics including the wholesale destruction of villages, burning down local prisons, targeting of civilians, and even the widespread mutilation of children and young mothers. And this seems like only the beginning of their campaign that they label as an endless war against…

We didn't see any of that. We got to see a guy who supposedly survived the ZA for over a year(?) get distracted and bitten when he knew there was at least one walker in the house? We then get to watch him hallucinate about characters he barely knew??? Weak.

Yea I posted that above also. Broke it down into the 3 separate transmissions.

While the machetes, cannibalism, and burning bodies are all similar to what they have done. It seems to be old news he heard before. News that he is relating to current events.

I have concluded that this episode was pretty awesome. As I watched it I thought the way it was shot was great and it was a very deep episode. Tyreese's struggles as he slowly dies, some pretty deep stuff watching an episode through a character's eyes as they die. We can debate how sloppy Ty was for not clearing the house and his daydreaming, actually it fit his character perfectly. He was sloppy and indecisive. He didn't want to live in that world anymore and it ended up costing him.

While the episode focused on Ty's death it also served to move the plot forward. Virginia was a bust, time to move on to DC. Looks likes there is a very dangerous group operating in that area judging from the mutilated walker head/torsos. The scene with Michonne, Rick, and Glenn outside the wall was great, the look on her face when she realized there was some seriously effed up stuff that went on there.

I'm sure the group will be encountering whoever laid waste to that community pretty soon. I'm guessing that they are some pretty bad dudes.

Yeah, now that I see the transcripts that is definitely describing things Tyreese has seen or been a part of since the ZA started.

quote:

At least 68 citizens of the republic have been killed in four deadly attacks along the main coastal district. The group has continued their campaign of random violence, moving across the countryside unfettered with the republic's military forces in disarray.

The Governor's two attacks on the prison, Rick and company's assault on Woodberry, and The Governor slaughtering his own people. Didn't we get confirmation that somewhere around 60 Wooderryians were killed in all that?

quote:

…then terrorizing the village by night, carrying out revenge attacks involving hacking innocents with machetes and, in some cases, setting them on fire.

Rick and company destroying Terminus, setting them on fire and killing Gareth and the remaining Termites in Father Gabriel's church. That was straight up revenge by machete.

quote:

There have been troubling reports of cannibalism having broken out in refugee camps along the republic's transportation corridor. And despite the string of victories by rebel forces, there are disturbing reports of increasing the brutality of their tactics including the wholesale destruction of villages, burning down local prisons, targeting of civilians, and even the widespread mutilation of children and young mothers. Cannibals - Terminus
Transportation corridor - Terminus was a railroad depot and people got there vis traintracks
Destruction of villages - Woodbury
Burning down local prisons - duh, Governor destroying the prison
Widespread mutilation of children - Lizzie carving up Mika
Killing of young mothers - Lori

This was perfectly in form with his character, stop bringing this up.

he spent quite a lot of time with the Governor, the twins, Bob, and Beth.

He had a very traumatic/guilty experience with Martin.

The "in some cases, setting them [the innocents] on fire" could also refer to Tyrese's girlfriend that Carol burned to keep the illness in the prison from spreading.
