Wait, you thought her blowing up a ship with force lightning wasn't absurd?
It's no more absurd than Luke falling hundred of feet only to perfectly fit into a hole in cloud city or Han being frozen for weeks then having no issues except some blurred vision once unfrozen.

I think the reason it was there was to hint that Rey is a palpatine.
That wasn't a hint, that was the point of the scene.

It is Star Wars though. The problem with fans today is that they have nitpick and have an explanation for every single thing.
I'm not asking for an explanation for everything single thing. I am saying it is an absurd thing to put in the movie. Force lightning has been reserved for Sith, always has. Now, all of a sudden, Rey can do it by accident? It is a ridiculous idea. Just like it was ridiculous that Rey learned how to jedi mind trick basically out of thin air.

That was absurd. What does that change about my post?

I mean, total blindness and muscular issues, but we are also talking about some technological idea vs established standards in star wars. The idea that someone can just randomly do extremely difficult force abilities because they are related to someone, is dumb.

I mean it’s the signature move of her bloodline to me that makes it not so bizarre. I see what you are saying though.

My point is that bloodline has nothing to do with the move though. Yes, Palpatine was the first we ever saw do it, but it is a signature move of the Sith. It is a move of the dark side, not a move of any certain family.
Beyond that, it takes a great level of hatred evil to do that force power (prior to this movie).
I 100% why they did it in the movie. Kylo even said he had to push her to show her who she really was. I just disagree with that entire thought process. Just wan't a good idea in my personal opinion. They could have done that reveal in a better way.

How about y’all read the books?

Which one specifically?

I never thought about it that way if i'm being honest

That is my point. Everything is made up in these movies but people are bitching about how believable some of the made up stuff is.

You can see him concentrate and pull his arms to his side before he moves himself sideways into the garbage chute or whatever that's supposed to be.
I see by the articles lauding it that the lesbian kiss is between some pilot and this thing.
Fitting. This is the fem activist buddy of Dern's whose other credits include Suffragettes and Womb. Kind of a running career theme.
and as I predicted, was cut out in foreign releases, likely the reason it was placed where it was.
Historic same-sex kiss in 'The Rise of Skywalker' polarizes 'Star Wars' fans, gets censored overseas (spoilers)

early on in a fictional story, the author builds the universe and establishes its rules. When future installments break those rules, people often call them out. Sometimes it’s nit-picky, but when it’s central to the story (like hyperspace kamikazi), it starts to smack of poor writing. It’s poor writing because the reason they are breaking the rule is to get the characters out of a jam. This is a criticism often levied in superhero movies when a hero’s power seems to fluctuate widely based on the situation. In some scenes, he’s getting beaten up by a group of normal dudes, and the next scene, he’s strong enough to stop a speeding train like its no big deal. It’s a sign of poor writing and an inability to tell a consistent story.

This isnt the first movie this has happened for. Most LGBTQ moments get censored for foreign audiences but blasted in the US. It's totally backwards.

I havent seen the OT ina WHILE. But upon this scene being brought up i remember it. And i also remember knowing that it was him using the force that let it be successful. I cant remember what makes me remember it that way. But thats how ive always taken it as well

Reread our conversation in the thread and you'll understand what I meant better.

I just got back from watching the movie. I absolutely went in there expecting to hate it so I wouldn't be disappointed...
To my pleasant surprise I left entertained. While it certainly has a lot of flaws and holes in the story line enough was done to properly put this to rest.
JJ Abrahms "In your Face" cinematography is a bit much as times...I would have like the camera pulled back a few times but that's his style.
Chewbacca's reaction to Leia's death was really sad. He had a complete meltdown.
I thought the handle Leia's story pretty well.
They had a real chance to make Ben Solo story come to a strong conclusion but fricked it up.
It's a visually good movie to watch with a C+ story line.

These movies ruin the other movies in much the same way Season 8 of Game of Thrones ruined the series. I can’t say that I will go back and watch the other movies again. I can’t tell you how many times I watched the first three movies prior to the Disney Trilogy release. The Luke story I wanted to see never happened. His character was destroyed while they forced children to watch women kiss.

Y'all think Leia force projected the vision of Han to Ben? Only explanation I can come up with. I would have preferred Anakin talk to his grand son but I thought it was a good scene
