I think he definitely was cast to be the down to earth guy that everyday Joe watching at home could relate to. But after the first season he realized that Mike and Pauly were the ones making all the money, getting the fame and girls so, like the total poser douche he is, he goes out and gets a sleeve of tattoos and decides he is now super cool with Mike and Pauly and wants to be just like them.
Yes and yes. Especially the second paragraph about him dying to be like Pauly and Sitch. Vinny sucks for the most part. Every now and then he slips up and says something funny or interesting, but most of the time he just gets his laughs by piggybacking off of something hilarious that Pauly just said.

Yea, I definitely agree.
I used to be a Vinny fan but after the whole Ramona thing last season, he was pretty lame.
Sitch and Pauly are the only real funny ones. And I'm starting to like Ron Ron again. I have a feeling I'll really like him once him and JWOWW bond and he shuns Sam like the devilish whore she is.
I also can't wait to see him cry like a little baby girl next episode.

I have a theory that the whole reason Sam sucks as much as she does is because she ended up with Ronnie instead of going with her first instinct and being with Sitch. She ruined herself with that decision.
