LOL, I thought this was obvious, we are talking about a show based on a comic book.
Oh shite, I thought this was a documentary.

I guess they are setting up for a season 2

The subject matter was written in the comics years ago, but back then the mere mention of race in media wasn't as polarizing as it is today.
It isn't a very old comic story, and not even a very popular one. I would hope none of us has any doubt about why this story was selected.
ETA: But hey, y'all keep your head in the sand while this kind of stuff helps push the masses toward acceptance of dystopian crap like a " Racial and Healing Commission" just so one political party can gain and maintain full control over you.

mostly weapon-based fighting techniques as winter soldier are something he is now consciously avoiding.
I think him following a "no guns" rule along with trying to not to seriously hurt anyone explains why he seems underpowered in this show.

The story was pretty polarizing to comic readers in the 2000's when it came out. Retconning Rogers as the second Captain America didn't get broad applause.
I agree it wasn't well received, but to my point you cant introduce the Isiah Bradley character and not hit on this. As soon as he was introduced, I knew it was coming. But I will say that the cop scene really rubbed me wrong a was completely unneeded. Didn't do anything to advance or add to the story. Just some stupid writer being a jackass.

To me the Isaiah Bradley story isn't really a problem and they have not handled it as poorly as it could have been handled, I'm just not confused about why they used it.
The police interaction piece and the "can't get a loan" pieces are more ridiculous in my view.

One reason why I love the movie winter soldier so much was because he was such a terrifying force with any type of gun or knife. He doesn’t use those much anymore.
I did enjoy seeing him pretend to be the winter soldier in Madripoor. He was noticeably more violent and aggressive in that scene. I think the old winter soldier would have handled John much more easily.

It’d be pretty careless to set this in NYC and not include Spider-Man in the final fight.
What if say, Spider-Man was you know, in Prague or London on a school trip at the same time
Or if he had "No Way Home" because he was on the run from people who know his identity

I say this as a Latino Brown immigrant conservative, you are being fricking deluded and your commentary really isn't doing much to "love your neighbor" or accept that different people have had different life experiences. Like you literally just sat here and tried to tell the grandson of a black vet that his grandfather didn't have it different than others coming back from war
You are equally as bad as those people you are against in your post. Geez man.

Upon a 3rd watch of the episode, Karli Morgenthau may be one of the worst marvel villains to date. I had hope for her but man. Whether it is due to the scraped virus plot or not, I've not enjoyed any of her scenes outside of the heart to heart with Sam.
I know she will get a redemption arc but man she is so uninteresting as a character. Hard to imagine her as the leader of a terrorist group.
The line "How many more people are we going to have to lose" was kinda hilarious because most of those deaths she listed are her fault
God help us if she is the leader of the Young Avengers and steals screen time away from bae Hailee Steinfeld

No I didn't. You should read it again.
ETA: The comment I was responding to even quoted what I did say:

Yes, this stuff happened, but Isaiah Bradley's story is completely fictionalized
That is clearly the opposite of the lie you just told about me. He isn't Isaiah Bradley's grandson. If you aren't able to follow the conversation you shouldn't jump in with sensationalist nonsense.

Yes, this stuff happened, but Isaiah Bradley's story is completely fictionalized. What you're describing isn't great, but it also isn't "thrown in jail for decades." I would also say that forcing diversity hires is absolutely destroying our once great nation, so while I agree it is wrong to make hiring decisions on anything other than merit, I disagree that the government should have forced that issue and doing so has made things far worse. Now we're being pushed toward the opposite scenario and hiring people solely based on checking diversity boxes and ignoring merit because we allowed the government to get involved in this in the first place. Your very story is what they're hitting on in this show, and that pushes the narrative that we have to keep heading down the absolute wrong path we're on now.
"Yeah your gramps went through wasn't great but Isaiah Bradley's story is fake so it isn't relevant to race discussions in this thread or what happened in real life"
How are you so angry about Isaiah Bradley. Like wtf made you think, "Isaiah Bradley is a diversity hire" and it is progressing this country into a one party country?
What am I missing. Of course the shite in this country is fricked but when a show comes along that helps to bridge the bitterness of Bradley and the shite he saw the government do to him and other in the 50s and 60s and beyond and all the race stuff that is relevant in our society right this minute you have a big problem with it? It has been well done by Sam saying nah f your bitterness old man but guess what I will use what you went through and use it to help others and help heal those perceived wounds.
You are literally mad for no reason.

No. It's more likely that Daisy Johnson has that role.

This is not at all an accurate representation of what I said.

I'm not, I've said many times that they could have handled the story much worse than they have. I'm just not confused about why they chose it.

I'm not mad at all. I am very sad about where our country is heading and recognize that this constant race propaganda is only further pushing us down that road. It needs to be called out every time, and I'm not afraid to do that.

You genuinely sound like a LGBTQ rights protester right now.
Pronouns aren't enough, protections (given by the constitution already nonetheless), safe spaces etc etc are never enough.
For you, discussing an extremely complex issue about race with respect and different viewpoints is not enough no matter how well it is done. Get over yourself man. Seriously.
I can be frustrated about woke shite and cancel culture too. If you think the this episode or Bradley's story helps push an incorrect narrative then you will never be happy which at this point sounds like you never will be

quote:its not the same serum. Karli didn't get any physical upgrades like Steve Rogers did. No muscle mass increase or height increase.
That was my point. Bucky has decades of experience over him and he literally just took the serum. He’s a baby. No way should he have destroyed both of them in that manner.
Walker wasn't just a soilder, from his record he was one of the best. Steve wasn't an elite soilder before he took the serum, neither was Bucky. This version of it seems to be the most stable and strongest that I think we've seen. Once John figures out his limitations, and collects himself..you will need more than just Sam and Bucky to stop him. Which is why Zemo isn't wrong in the bigger picture.
It may very well be like racing a stock corvette from the 70s vs one from 2020.

Hoping they don't kill Walker off or some shite as his character eventually..without spoiling too much..becomes quite a useful force, and I like him for what he is. Wonder if the west coast avengers will ever be a thing.
This show is a great opportunity to handle real world issues that people face, be it soilders with PTSD or half arse racism a black superhero may encounter.
