Also, the completely out of place therapy session scene just to crowbar a gay man into the MCU was cringe. I'm not sure what was worse, that or the girlpower scene.

That definitely wasn't out of place.

and that is why HUlk is regulated to being background cast the way he has been.

Or the fact that Marvel can't make a stand alone Hulk film because Universal still owns the rights. But whatever...

Joe Russo (co-director as an openly gay character) in the therapy session as a definite SJW agenda with no other plot reason (as they've said in interviews) wasn't out of place to you?

quote:

The character, played by co-director Joe Russo himself, appears briefly in an early scene as a member of a post-Thanos support group, led by Captain America. People on Earth are seen trying to grapple with half of the population having vanished. Joe Russo's character, who remains nameless, describes the pain of losing his partner in the "Snappening." He casually refers to a new romantic interest as a "he" when describing their recent date.

quote:

The moment is extremely subtle, but according to the Russo brothers, it's also groundbreaking. "Representation is really important," Joe Russo told Deadline. "It was important to us as we did four of these films, we wanted a gay character somewhere in them." Anthony Russo added: "That scene was important to us in telling the story of the larger world." "When you have a story point that includes killing half of all humans on Earth, you're telling a bigger story than 'The Avengers,'" he said. "That character that Joe is playing really came from that point of view, him being an everyman who has suffered from Thanos' act."

Not at all. It was a great way to show how society was handling the snap without doing a lame montage. Showing Tony leading the therapy session would have been out of place, but they used probably the most empathetic character.

I didn't have a problem with that scene. Honestly it felt like a pretty natural way to have a gay character without it feeling too forced.

The funny thing is there a handful of those Twitter losers complaining it was a bad thing to have the first gay person in the MCU just being a background character.

The girlpower scene was kind of eye-rolling, but whatever. I got over it quickly.

Subtle is how you handle things like that as opposed to in the final battle where they beat us over the head with the bat of feminism.

An "everyman" would have been talking about going on a date with a woman. Hilarious to hear a gay dude talk about how he and his date both "miss the Cubs." Yeah right. Wasn't really beating us over the head with it though. The first time I watched the film I missed the "gay" part and thought the dude was talking about his dad.

And this too. Regardless of what was said in the therapy scene, I liked the inclusion of it.

Sorry, but crowbarring a gay character just for the sake of "representation" is just hack territory. The therapy session, ok fine. The directors wanting to subtlety push an agenda just bothers me. The fact that they put that in as an "important part of cinema history" makes me want to vomit.

This kind of stuff makes me glad this was their last one. They have done a great job to this point, but it's clear their ideology is getting the best of them and would be affecting their movies moving forward.

Out of place? Or showing us how the world was coping and what Steve Rogers was doing to help his fellow man...

That's what you got out of that scene. If a movie gives a gay person one line, they're pushing an agenda on you.

The girlpower scene was 1,000 times more forced and out of place than any other scene.

Handle things like what? Putting something in a movie that literally serves no purpose other than pushing a SJW agenda, and was said so from the co-director that played the character? How bout just making a good movie? Why must we push agendas on people.

What agenda? That everyone was affected? That gay people exist?

Where do you live that there are lots of gay people? They aren't a significant part of our population as a whole.

No, that's not what I got out of it. I literally didnt even mind it at all watching it, till I saw the article with Joe Russo saying that put it in just to push the agenda and how "important it was to history" Give me a break. Then it aggravated me. At the time it didn't bother me. Now it does.

Think about what Disney is doing. They are editing out racist scenes in films (Song of the South) but adding Homosexual scenes because it's "important to history"
