These also may not be off the beaten path, but Mrs. White and I really enjoyed The Holdovers and All is Bright, ironically both with Paul Giamatti.

I thought The Holdovers was almost an instant classic. Both on Prime, but may be available elsewhere.

I completely agree with you on The Holdovers. It was one of my top OTBP picks last year.

Black Christmas (1974)

Possibly the greatest slasher movie ever made and definitely the greatest Christmas horror film.

I’m also in strong agreement here. The original is of course light years better than the more modern sequels, but I couldn’t help go down the rabbit hole last year and watch them all.

Remember the Night was excellent, Stanwyck and McMurray were very good actors in everything they did. The story was great also.

I remember a made for tv holiday movie from the 80s that starred the Duke boys as quarrelling truck driving brothers on a mission to open a chili factory...to save Christmas

For some reason I first imagined Randolph and Mortimer, and thought that would be a funny movie. Then it clicked that you were talking about Bo and Luke.

Found this one a couple years ago, now in the rotation. Solid cast.

I have 15 minutes left in that one and was planning on posting it. Very solid and definitely rotation-worthy. Love the Italian-American overlay as well.

Never see it on rotation on TV, and have to really search for it on streaming, currently on Plex.

It Happened on 5th Avenue

Love this movie.

I finished Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale last night. Highly recommend for a different kind of Christmas movie, and I mean very different (think Nordic horror plus dark comedy).

my 90-year-old mother-in-law lived with us the last 18 months of her life

she loved watching TCM, but had 3 movies on DVD she watched over and over and over again - this was one of them

the others were Harvey and The More The Merrier

any other three movies might have driven me insane, but these three are so good that i would usually watch them with her

the last line of this one still gets me every time, even after probably >100 viewings

Santa Claus: The Movie

With all its flaws, it's still one of my favorites. Love the first half of this movie
