Man that's crazy. I had never heard this story. What a way to go. I know wiki's a tough source to trust but it mentioned that she was going blind and couldn't take the thought of not being able to see. Sad as hell.

EDIT: Should have read the rest of the thread.

the Poltergist deaths are pretty freaky.

Most people know about the little girl, but the girl who played Dana (oldest sister in the first one) was killed by her boyfriend after the movie came out then the guy who played the Indian in the second one died after routine surgery. The creepy "God is in his hooo-leee temmmppple" guy died of cancer after the second movie came out

yea, I just read the article on cracked.

I was looking more for not well known deaths of celebrities. That being said, if the celebrity is well known, their death probably is as well.

That's definitely more true now than it was 40-50 years ago. Celeb deaths didn't seem to be as big of a deal back then. I remember Jack Benny's death being little more than a foot note on the local news.He was pretty famous at the time.

Did you read the Jon-Erik Hexum story? Possible Darwin candidate.

Faron Young (country music) and Del Shannon (rock and roll) both killed themselves.

On May 29, 2008, Jeannie Millar committed suicide in Los Angeles, California. During the last couple of years, Jeannie scaled back her acting career, married her third husband, and became a mother to Hannah - a cute baby with Downs Syndrome. Then two months later, Jeannie ended her life. Jeannie did not OD on drugs or prescription meds, but it wasn't accidental either. After autopsy, the Los Angeles Coroner classified her death as "Suicide by Hanging."

Ok couple comments on this...

The cops couldn't confirm this before the autopsy? Maybe when they saw her hanging from a ceiling. Also...

and became a mother to Hannah - a cute baby with Downs Syndrome

Not sure if serious.

I think I know why she killed herself too amirite?

I know.

That is unbelievably sad. Wow.

Especially since my mom has a bad case of rhuematoid (sp?) arthritis. The doc said it was the worst he has ever seen. That stuff is not fun.

Del Shannon
I remember that from when I was in high school. Rolling Stone did a small blurb on him. He sang one of the most iconic songs ever -"Teenage Runaway"- and never had another hit I believe. He produced some music and was still involved. But he went into his garage one morning, turned his car on and never turned it off.

Rebecca Schaeffer

She was on a show My Sister Sam with Pam Dawber(Mindy). I thought she was pretty good looking. Not necessarily Alyssa Milano hot but decent with her 80's hair poof.

Schaeffer was stalked and then murdered by an obsessed fan, prompting the passage of anti-stalking laws in California.

It is easy to shoot this thread down. All of these were quite well known at the time. Sorry but almost all of them were.

You don't think a person being killed on the set of a movie would be well known?

Dana Plato was all over the tabloids before her death and after.

I imagine the Aunt Em death was also well discussed. If the post title was forgotten interesting death info then maybe some would fit.

There were posts on here about the fat road trip chick. Heck, given she was barely a celebrity, the fact that anyone would know shows it wasn't passed over.

Brad Renfro was discussed at the time of his death as was Farrah. Many people made comments how she would be so pissed that Jackson stole her death thunder.

Pete Postelwaithe is about the only one discussed that might have slipped under the death radar of some people.

Brittney Murphy was a huge deal because it was so sudden and out of the blue.

Sorry but the most of the responses were either jokes or did not fit in with the actual subject, so sue me.

Straten's death was so unknown they only made a freaking movie about it.

Jane Maynesfield was beheaded. Very well known death. Grace Kelly???

In the same vein as Brandon Lee, John Eric-Hexum was killed on the set of his TV show with a fake gun.

I see some interesting death tidbits but not any deaths that weren't well known.

I get that but, instead of pointing this out why not post a death YOU consider not well known?

Most of mine were geared to the OP thinking he may not have heard of them.

Jon-Erik Hexum was/is not exactly a household name.

The mansfield, kelly posts were in response to his curiosity about "older" deaths.

Sure, a current tv show actress being murdered went under the radar.

If there is an E Holywood Story about the death then it was know unknown.

This one made me sad...Judith Barsi

quote:

On July 25, 1988, József shot Judith in the head while she was asleep, in her room. Maria, hearing the gunshot, rushed down the hall to check on Judith, where József met her and shot her as well.[1] After pouring gasoline on the bodies, he left them there for 3 days before setting the house on fire. On July 28th, József went into the garage and shot himself in the head with a .32 caliber pistol

Per "Dead" Ohlin, the late lead vocalist of the band Mayhem.

quote:

Suicide

On 8 April 1991, Dead was found dead, by Euronymous, of a shotgun wound to the head. He had also cut his wrists and left a suicide note, which included an apology for having shot a firearm indoors and which ended with: "Excuse all the blood."

Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth) was murdered a couple of years later by Varg Vikernes.
