And then there's the death that didn't happen.

Waylon Jennings gave up his seat on a plane to J.P (The Big Bopper) Richardson because teh bopr had the flu. It was the same plane that crashed and killed Buddy Holly and Ritchi Valens.

Not exactly right.

She started going blind and began suffering from severe arthritis.

Clara left the following note: “I am now about to make the great adventure. I cannot endure this agonizing pain any longer. It is all over my body. Neither can I face the impending blindness. I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.”

Oh, ok. Well that makes it more sad than creepy.

I want to check out more about older celebrity deaths. I knew about most of these listed in this thread but I bet there's a ton of cool one's from the pre-60/70's.

There was the "rumor death" of Mike D from the Beastie Boys. He paid homage to that in Shake Your Rump >>> "I'm Mike D and I'm back from the dead"...

Freddie Prinz was extremely well known at the time of his death. Dorothy Stratton has had a movie made about her. I wouldn't consider either of these not well known.

How is that a "not well known" celebrity death? It's still a big story to this day.

Is this thread about a not well known death or a not well known celebrity?

Really. Most of these were quite well known at the time of their deaths.
