2012 is a great one to watch with kids. It does a good job of serialized storytelling.

Every review I've seen of this movie, from people I trust, has been overwhelmingly positive.

But of course this board is critical

This movie is made for kids. The 90s movie was more mature than this. I wasn't interested anyway and nothing in the trailers changed my mind. It's fine if people like it, but someone else in the thread said it best.

If you don't have any prior knowledge of the TMNT, you'll probably like it.

I don't like the changes. Nothing wrong with that. I also am already biased negatively to anything that has a significant involvement with Seth Rogen.

I won't watch the movie, regardless of the reviews, good or bad.

But I listened to 3 or 4 songs from the score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross), and what I've heard so far I've really enjoyed.

They are critical because of the unnecessary changes to it but you do you.

That’s badass, didn’t realize it. That’s an auto listen for me.

shite, my three year old boy loves it. He also loves the first two live action movies. The first one is a little dark for him honestly, but nothing is egregious with it, and a lot of the violence is done humorously. I got really good at distracting him for a few seconds here and there for parts I didn't think he should see.

Rewatching them with him, the first TMNT movie from 1990 is legitimately awesome. Action, dialogue, heart, score, cinematography, etc. It's great.

Oh we’re all in on the movies. The tv show drags too much for his liking

Lol. I admit I enjoy this movie too, but it's not even close to as good as the first two.

I remember when the 2007 movie came out. I really enjoyed that one.

And they made Master Splinter just Splinter and he's a straight dumb arse in the movie. He's human-phobic and is just an awful character. They turned him into a bumbling idiot.

A guy on tiktok was streaming a pirated version of the movie. I watched about 15 min. What they did to Splinter is criminal. They made him this basic arse white bread dad. Original noble Splinter who was a pet of Hamato Yoshi is the goat Splinter and should never be changed.

Didn't want to read the thread because of spoilers but the animation alone peaked my interest. I don't think I've seen any TMNT movies since the live action, but I was thinking about seeing this one.

I agree. The animation style is interesting. I can't decide if I like it or not. Sometimes it looks flat 2D and other times it looks 3D. I guess it just depends if objects are moving or not.

I just have to wonder what goes into the decision to change the character of April O’Neal to something that is obviously going to piss off a lot of the fan base. I mean ultimately it’s a work of fiction and you can do whatever you want with it, but if the point of a movie is to make money (each movie is it’s own LLC with budgets, goals, revenues, expenses etc) I just can’t guess why you would elect to change something that is sure to cause a large drop off in revenues for the business. If the point is representation, that’s fine, but do black women really care about being represented in the universe of teenage mutant ninja turtles? It’s just a baffling decision to me. I also don’t get shoehorning in things like flyers for LGBTQ on the school hallway bulletin board. It’s a Ninja turtles movie, the animation style and the fact that Seth Rogan was on board, had me intrigued. I don’t need race swapping and political undertones in every aspect of my life, especially my entertainment that involves IP’s from a nostalgic past. Just makes no sense to me. I’m going to try to keep an open mind and maybe go see it.

Didn’t know about that one, admittedly, but not as up to date on shows like that versus movies.

That's true but what does Rise have to do with this? Rise is also probably the least popular animated series of them all.

At least in rise April wasn't frumpy lol.
