A few observations:
1. Rob - that guy was a beast at the challenges and I think they gave him some guaranteed money to come back. I think logically he has to be there for the challenges and it would be stupid to vote him off now, but there is no reason for the other players to fawn over him as they did.
2. Sandra - how is it that she doesn't do challenges, she is not a likable person and has wiggled her way into no votes again? I wouldn't tell anyone, lie my arse off and put a vote on her every time regardless of the outcome. It would drive her insane.
3. Yul - he has already done the math and has figured out what 90% of the 40 seasons have not; pull together the people that were intentionally put in the game to be outsiders/outliers/nerds/ etc. he has pulled together a group even of prior winners that need guidance.
4. The rest, it looks like the game has evolved soo much that in only a few cases would a past win help. In normal circumstances, it put a target on you. These guys almost look like terrible players who fawn over each other's past performances.
5. I think the show is intentionally showing more of the social game this season, but it could be too much.
6. I don't understand the extinction island thing at all. I like was the old players said, we didn't have advantages, idols, etc. and in the really old players like Ethan, they had to actually somewhat "survive". It is like a vacation now compared to Australia, Africa, and the like.
7. That first challenge was rough. Sarah looked like she was going to develop a black eye and Natalie for a "crossfitter", she needs to work on her endurance. I think she would have excelled on physical challenges later on.
8. How did Ben ever win anything? I remember in his season he lied to everyone, but here he seems like if the right person would have asked he would have gladly puckered up and kissed their arse. He is a terrible player and easily manipulated.

He was a wizard at finding hidden immunity islands. That’s how.

A) He found every immunity idol possible.
B) He was the first benefactor of the fire making challenge at 4 left. Otherwise he would've been voted off for sure.

maybe it's her attitude that makes her attractive?
For me, it's her personality. I do think she is physically attractive, but far from the hottest one to ever play the game. I just love fun, flirty girls that don't take themselves too seriously. And I loved her manipulation in the seasons she's played. She just has a super confident aura about her that I dig, and she seems to always be smiling. That's attractive to me.

Yeah, I don't really care for it. It really doesn't help anyone that goes there if I remember correctly.

I can see that. Confidence is definitely a good thing for a woman to have and does make them more attractive even if they aren't the best looking.
And FTR, she isn't unattractive at all.

It's easy to see her strategy sitting at home, but every season she pulls the same stuff and nobody seems to clue in on it. She sees the paranoia and fractures, and fans the flames of them. Someone tells her a target, she runs to that target and tells them, then goes to everyone else. Often times she even makes up stuff and sits back and watches it fester. You may not like her, but you have to admit it's pretty masterful, especially how she does it and mostly stays in everyone's good graces.
I hope the Yul/Sophie alliance goes far. Really like both of them. And I still love Tony's goofy arse.

To contrast, I absolutely loved Aubry's story arc her first season. How she went from this nerdy girl with no confidence and completely out of her element to a confident beast of a player by the end of the season that got robbed by a bitter jury. But I didn't find her physically attractive at all, then she was annoying as shite and arrogant as hell her 2nd season which just made her look worse.

Very good assessment, I saw her that way as well.

1. Rob 2. Sandra
I think that both make the merge or at last end up on the same tribe if the show does a switch before the merge. They spent too much time developing the impending conflict with Rob’s lying to Sandra about playing and Rob blaming Sandra for Ambuh’s vote out.

You remember very incorrectly.
They only did it for the first time two seasons ago and the season winner Chris spent something like 30 days at Extinction. And Devens, probably the best player all season also went to Extinction and won his way back in.
That said, it's obviously a way for production to keep big names in the season longer. As much as voting out Rob early is a smart move it's also not as good for TV.

Won back in the game but didn't win.

I agree with this 100%.

That might have been the only time someone voted out has come back in to win though.

I get what you mean. Going to be interesting to see what happens

It is going to be a great season with constantly shifting strategies and alliances. Just like Tyson switching his strategy with no hesitation and getting on board to vote Amber or Kim out. New players would have never done that on the spot like that.
I do kinda wish it was an old school style game though with no Extinction and no advantages or hidden immunity idols. Kinda sucks the older players have to adjust to the new style instead of the other way around.

Absolutely

I agree, I feel it would put more on them to play it without all the extra advantages. Maybe one or two immunity idols and that's it.

To be fair... :Letterkennygifhere: only a few of these players haven't done a season without immunity idols, advantages, and even redemption of some sort.
Only Ethan, Amber, and Danni haven't been on since immunity idols first appeared.
It would be fun, but immunity idols have been part of the game a lot longer than they haven't been.

True but just reduce the amount a little. They definitely can change the outcome if played correctly though.

The whole fire token and shopping list thing just opens the door for way too much influence by production. It’s kind of crossing over into the “Big Brother” manipulating the game area. Those tokens may just start appearing wherever the player in the most danger needs them to so they can buy their way out of trouble.
Why in the hell wouldn’t Natalie give Jeremy the chance to buy the immunity necklace when she knows he had her extra token?
Sandra - what a miserable person to be around. I’d vote her out just because her personality sucks. She’s bitching about Rob lying to her about coming back but she never said whether she told him that she was coming back. Nothing but a shite-stirrer who sits on her arse during challenges.

Ethan seems like one of the nicest guys to ever play this game. I hope he goes far but he might be a little too naive for the modern cutthroat pace of Survivor.
