The only person I trust less with Star Wars than Kennedy is Lucas himself. The prequels were full of terrible slapstick.
Lucas had a hand in creating The Clone Wars and Rebels. As long as Filoni and Favreau are the ones in charge of executing the overall story, I think that it will be fine.
I saw a rumor today that Lucas wants this guy for Ezra Bridger. I think that he could pull it off.

Why does everyone forget it was Kurtz who made Star Wars?

This might be splitting hairs, but isn't Indiana Jones "Lucasfilm" as well? I don't think Disney owns the rights to that franchise.
Yes, IJ is Lucasfilm. I'm not exactly sure on the longterm Indiana Jones rights but Disney will be releasing Indiana Jones 5. I wouldn't be surprised if they are least get the rights to stream the first 4 when 5 comes out in theaters.
Also, they already have Willow and Red Tails on the service, and at one point Strange Magic which are also Lucasfilm properties. There are other movies like Radioland Murders, Howard the Duck, and the two American Graffiti films but I assume Universal will be unlikely to give those up.
Hell, I'm actually surprised that Disney hasn't put up the two Ewok movies. Those were broadcast by ABC so I don't think the rights with those should be a problem.
I just don't think they are treating the Lucasfilm studio with the respect it deserves and that would really be the only thing I could see enticing Lucas to come back.
But then again, I feel this way about them not really having a separate section for Jim Henson Studios and the Muppets movies as well so that may just be me having OCD problems with how they've organized everything on D+.

Not buying this

Based on Bob Iger's book and sources that have come out since, he cared a lot and was very troubled by the last 2 movies especially.
I would take Iger's book with a grain of salt considering he was forced out of heading Disney. Lucas disliking the direction the movies went doesn't necessarily equate to him wanting to book KK to head the studio again.

-Says hes received more confirmation her being out is more than a rumor and received info shes pretty much already done and Disney is just waiting for a good time to announce/reshuffle. She is no longer involved in any ongoing projects.
-says Kathleen is arranging a deal with JJ Abrams company Bad Robot (not related to star wars)
Hopefully true.

-says Disney wants George Lucas to replace Kathleen Kennedy, says Disney investors have been working him for a few months
-they ask Lucas what it would take to bring him back to LF, and he asks for 4 non-negotiable conditions that needed to be met
1. He gets to make HIS sequel trilogy
2. He gets full creative power (Disney Corp doesnt mettle)
3. Kathleen Kennedy is gone
4. Disney agrees to never ever mess with the George Lucas Star Wars movies
No way this is true. No way.

-says Favreau would essentially take over Star Wars content on Disney+ and another person would be head of star wars movie production.
Clashes too much with the Lucas news. It should be Favreau's to run completely.

Hope this is half right. They need less "connection" in a Star Wars universe, so this is a good idea, but they need it to be a "UNIVERSE" just tell some good stories and don't worry about having a "Battle of New York," or an "Avengers."

Essentially all the moves Bob Iger was too much of a pussy to make since he did the original deal w/ GL.

We’ve had these threads about her once a month since the release of TLJ and nothing has changed.

I mean, I'm no fan of KK, but Lucas isn't the answer here.
The PT is evidence enough of what you get in the modern age when Lucas has full creative control, no oversight, and no one to tell him no.
On top of that, Lucas himself already messed with the original SW movies with the Special Edition changes that made them worse.
So, Lucas has essentially enjoyed three if these stipulations before with mixed to bad results. I have no interest in seeing some ST about the Whills or whatever they are.

I’d be really happy with this, but I want Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau working closely with Lucas if it’s true. They can make sure a great Star Wars story is told and Lucas doesn’t get carried away with the details

Look, if they cast Sebastian Stan as Luke and let him go out and have adventures in the galaxy destroying what’s left of the Empire while building a new Jedi Order with Ahsoka who can truly tell him what his father was like, then I’m all in for it.
I just want to remind everyone that of all the different test cuts that were done for TRoS, Lucas’s cut was BY FAR the highest reviewed one.

I forgot to add that into the OP. That's why the Disney executives want him. They were pissed when they saw it.
Then you add in Disney losing revenue from their parks...they need to make up for it in the theaters.

theatrical money is going to be a bust for the next year at minimum.
even under the most optimal conditions it's probably going to takes years for theaters to fully recover.

Carrie Fisher is dead...Harrison is almost 80...Mark Hamill is likely done.
The opportunity to have a sequel trilogy that we deserved is over. I'll stick with the original expanded universe and the original trilogy unaltered, even by GL, thank you.
This has been a shitshow since the prequels, to be honest. GL stated that The Phantom Menace allowed him to make the type of movie that he wanted to make in 1977, because of the technology. I can't see Star Wars being what it became if we got The Phantom Menace in 1977...fart jokes, green screen galore, and midichlorians.
Like it or not, the original trilogy was just about as discombobulated as the sequel trilogy in regard to planning. That's obvious as we all know that Vader was not Luke's father. Somehow, someway, not having a plan then worked, in spite of GL's process. It didn't work for Disney.
Hell, maybe Kylo was right..."Let the past die."

Because he didn't.
It was a collaborative effort to be sure, and Kurtz was the producer on the first two films of the franchise, but the story was Lucas's idea. Without Lucas there never is any Star Wars. People tend to forget that.

Where did you hear that? It was a surprise to the company's board of directors when he announced he was stepping down from the position of CEO back in February, a year before his contract expired. The book was published back in September, five months before this announcement, so your timeline is 100% effed up to begin with. Not only that, Disney asked him to come back to temporarily run the company when Covid-19 started. That was back in April.
