Who does Pitina voor sound like to you guys?

Also, Palpatine is Trump, and Bill Clinton is the suicided husband.
quote:
Whether or not Emperor Palpatine ever returns, there's no denying that his empire's greatest weakness was having HIM as a leader. Cruel, vindictive, hateful, and detested across the galaxy, it's a miracle Emperor Palpatine took as long as he did to lose all power. But now, Star Wars has revealed the woman who was actually keeping the Empire together all those years, despite its incompetent leader: Imperial Minister Pitina Voor.
quote:
This issue opens with quite a mini-history of Voor’s rise through the ranks of the Empire. She comes from royalty and was forced to marry an Imperial senator at a very young age. After growing tired of his complacency, she coerced him into suicide by feeding him a false rumor Darth Vader was coming for him. Her late husband was so terrified he hung himself. She took his place as a senator and demonstrated her talents of manipulating planets into joining the Empire through fear and propaganda.
quote:
Every fan is going to want to know the woman born Pitina Mar-Mas Voor, twenty-five years before Sheev Palpatine began his rise to power. Married to a lame duck bureaucrat in the Empire's ruling class of competing officers and governors, Pitina saw history repeating itself. That below all the bravado, intimidation, and posturing... the expansion of the Empire through brute force was killing it even as it spread (running out of both soldiers and money). And Pitina just might have led the Galactic Empire to total success, if not for once crucial weakness: Emperor Palpatine had absolutely no idea how to lead.
quote:
Encouraging her husband's suicide to spare himself a traitor's death at Vader's hand (which was not actually coming), Pitina claimed his position for herself. Acknowledging that Emperor Palpatine may have known the truth of her deception, he granted her influence and position anyway. Which is when she began to enact her true vision for the Empire's successful expansion.
quote:
It’s the classic path-of-least resistance road to totalitarianism: Scare the populace so they relinquish freedom and embrace the oppressor until they realize it’s too late. Voor claims there is much humanitarianism in her actions and that she’s helped the Empire avoid countless conflicts and losses. The reason she wants old Sheev out of the way is due to his tendency to build super weapons and the Sith enforcer he’s unleashed upon the galaxy. Voor wants peace and doesn’t feel Palpatine will ever give that to the galaxy since he’s determined to rule by military might. She also thinks people will never not be afraid of him, which will always keep some sort of Rebellion whipped up.

That's dumb but you're really reaching with those comparisons

Look how far you're going to make yourself miserable. You really need to find a hobby or a decent job bud. This isn't healthy.

Who said it made me miserable?

Girl Boss!
Even woke SJWs are calling Disney out for using female character empowerment to make money now. They are actually getting mad about it. I hope they go after each other.
Disney has yet to figure out the meta to get paid off racial issues besides throwing in more diversity though. They've figure out a way to really cash in by making girls in charge of everything. Example: Jasmine was always a character that spoke her mind even in the original, but they gave her a song titled speechless. That was never an issue for Jasmine, but it helps them push the girl boss nonsense.

Putting that much effort into something that upsets you typically makes one more upset. This is common with the extreme left when they go out of their way to find topics to be outraged about.

How much effort do you think this takes? Is it really that difficult for you to read articles and start threads to the point where you think it takes unusual effort?

When it comes to seeking out and reporting on information on a topic that you're extremely sensitive about, any effort is too much effort.
By all means, continue on triggering yourself.

I sought out this information? How do you figure? How do you measure sensitivity through the internet?

You seem far more triggered than I do. You could have just not posted in this thread at all, yet you felt the need to do so anyways, wonder why?

Mmmmm the old rubber/glue tactic. So effective.

No need to wonder. I was curious as to what drives you to look for ways to be outraged.

The Empire’s greatest weakness was the Emperor? Uh, ok. I might have chosen “cancelling marksmanship training for Stormtroopers” or “not second-checking the superweapon designs of their known dissident lead engineer” before I picked the guy who single-handedly overthrew a Republic that spanned a galaxy and had stood for centuries, but that’s probably just me focusing on history and not herstory.

The internet must be tough for you bud. All sorts of opinions and views you cant personally pre-approve. I bet it's a nightmare, bless your heart.

You are really freaking the frick out over this, aren’t you?
You do realize you could just ignore the entire topic, right?
You are acting pretty pathetic, Murray.
Shame, shame.

I don't have a problem with your opinion. I don't love where Disney has taken the SW universe either.
Again. This was what piqued my curiosity.

At this point, you've explained without realizing it.
Have a good one.

They did try to tell us that the Force is female...

You shut your goddamn piehole Scruffy!
I usually don't react to the trigger events on this board but I had a free minute and I've always been generally curious why anyone let's things like this take them over.
ETA: One last thing Scruff. You say that I'm freaking out. Was I supposed to just post the one time and roll out? My intention was to engage to attempt to better understand the behavior. That's going to involve some back and forth in the thread.

You keep saying things like this. What makes you think it takes the full focus and attention of a person to post a thread? Does it amaze you when people can walk and chew gum at the same time?
Exactly how does this "take me over"?
I post a topic, I move on to other things, and then come back later to see responses. That's hardly evidence of being "taken over" by it. Star wars is one of many hobbies I have (above you told me to get a hobby strangely).

And why did this thread specifically draw your interest out of the many other threads?
Posted on 10/1/19 at 2:27 pm to Murray
quote:Yep.
You say that I'm freaking out.
quote:Or not post at all.
Was I supposed to just post the one time and roll out?
quote:What is there to understand that hasn’t been rehashed and noted 1 million times over?
My intention was to engage to attempt to better understand the behavior.
People on this board have been hating on Star Wars for acceptable reasons (TLJ, this nonsense) and unacceptable reasons (directors for being females).
It isn’t a complicated or misunderstood topic at this point.
