i'll read the wiki synopsis if that's necessary

i don't really see secondary marvel movies in the theater. only saw black panther there b/c of the aforementioned gf

didn't see iron man 2, 3, ant man, dr strange, ant man 2, etc in theaters.

hell i probably won't be watching too many post-Endgame ones, either

I haven't seen anything in these trailers that get me excited. I agree with everyone else, her acting is wooden. The dialogue is also laughable...noble warrior heroes

I was talking about the uptick in 2015/16. Bootlegged movies have been around since the mid 90s at least. Ticket sales were climbing throughout the 90s and into the early 2000s with the internet around.

Those in the entertainment industry (and i’m including sports in this) seem to think that just because people pay to see them do some stunts, or sing a song, or dunk a ball that means we give a shite about their opinion on anything much less politics. They are less educated and live in bubbles and yet believe they know everything.

That’s why ticket sales are down. That’s why viewership is down. Entertainment is an escape, not a forum for political discourse.

And on the micro level, Disney whiffed badly on this casting. Not only that, they have an actress mouthing off about their biggest target audience by far.

You understand that the differences between bootlegged movies and Internet use between the 90s and today is quite significant, right?

You can want this to be true as hard as you want. That won't make it so.

I bet you any sum of money that US box office ticket sales for motion pictures has already peaked and is in decline or you can just admit you are wrong and troll the board by blindly posting progressive nonsense.

Take your pick.

So no, you don't understand that. Just say you don't understand it.

You never did post the data as currency. I wonder why...

Also, what exactly is "progressive" about being correct?

Ticket prices have risen by 50% since 2003 and yet box office revenue has only risen by 30%. Those two facts coupled with the 8-10% increase in the US population over the same period only further weakens your half assed argument.

Just to further shite on you, there were 506 movies released into theaters in 2003. In 2018, that number rose to 872. Not only that but hundreds of new movie theaters have been built in that time too.

And yet, the film industry is still seeing its profit margins erode. But yeah you keep knighting for SJWs mouthing off. I’m done with your ignorance. You keep trying to drag everyone down to your level of stupidity so you can beat us with clearly high level of experience, but I for one no longer have the time for your bullshittery.

The box office has many problems. In my instance, and I definitely don't claim to speak for everyone, it is #1 quality of product and #2 interjecting personal political beliefs into scripts/acting/advertising. It's the same with professional athletics, dining, any kind of entertainment. You can provide a product that is just so good that I don't care about your other stupidity or you can offer a mediocre product and keep your mouth shut about everything else. Pick one, or the other. Assuming they have put the best parts of the movie in the trailers, this movie looks really bad. So the ONLY reason you would want to see it is grrrrrl power, which makes you an idiot.

I’ll admit that I’m a huge comic book nerd. I even collected Captain Marvel books as a kid (the original where it’s a guy, not Carol Danvers).

I was super excited to see this.

And I don’t hate Brie Larson in general. I thought she was fine in Kong Skull Island.

But damn this looks bad. I’ve seen high school plays with better delivery of lines.

I’ll still see it, but my expectations have dropped severely.

I showed the clip to my 5 year old who is a superhero superfan. Asked if he wanted to go see this movie and he said "no, l want to go see aquaman (again)."

It’s like someone thought of all the cool lines Clint Eastwood or OG Stallone would deliver and said: “wouldn’t Brie Larson be an excellent choice to carry that mantle?”

Oh it happened, and it was awkward, especially for her husband that was standing there in front of the checkout line with their baby wanting to GTFO. Dude looked like someone that just robbed a bank and his co-conspirator was checking out the daisies in front of the bank. It was one of those rare real life WTF moments.

Less people go to the movies now than in decades, and go less frequently. "Big" box office #'s are largely due to inflation and increased ticket prices.

In the 80s a typical big budget movie might cost 5-25 million to make and topping 100 million at the box office was usually considered a smash hit.

Now your big budget movies cost 50-150+ million and those type of movies need like 500+ million to be considered successful. For movies with outrageous marketing budgets even that isn't even enough. Batman v Superman made close to 1 billion and was considered a mild financial disappoint. Solo made 400 million and was a major financial failure.

Not taking inflation into account when comparing historical box office performance is either dishonest or just ignorant.

Movies are still obviously a very profitable endeavor, but legitimate box office numbers have been getting consistently worse for almost 20 years.

There you go. You could've stopped right there. Numbers are numbers. They don't lie and they don't have your bullshite agendas.

I think steaming is hurting them. A movie has to be worth the price. With so many movies I only go to theaters for action flicks or things I really want to see.
