Another American Pie is in the works, this one to be penned by Insecure actor and Definition Please filmmaker Sujata Day.

The multihyphenate is set to develop and write a new installment of the long-running sex comedy franchise for Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production arm of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. Plot details have yet to be revealed, but the story is based on her original pitch and is being described as a fresh take.

The original 1999 film, written by Adam Herz and directed by Paul Weitz, grossed more than $235 million worldwide and spawned three sequels with the core cast

Is it going to be a core cast or an odd spin off? I think there are more spin offs than core movies. With Eugene Levi the only actor in them all.

If they are going to do a new one, given that we’re 23 years later, isn’t the obvious movie to have Jim be the dad with a son the same age he was in the original? With Levy back as a grandfather?

Seems like that movie would write itself.

Would tie in with the original three perfectly.

Technically there's 9 American Pie films, one came out in 2020 American Pie: Girls Rule and it didn't have nudity or Eugene Levy, so it's pretty run down already.

In American Reunion (2012) they had a 2-year old son... so they would have to change a few things.

Given who’s making this, I have a feeling it’s not going to be like the American Pie movies we know and love… another franchise getting that modern day twist

Didn’t realize there were 13 years between them. They should shelve a sequel for 6 or 7 years; make it on the 30th anniversary.

Translation: Will follow a group of high school females as they attempt to lose their virginity as empowered, transgender, lesbians of color.

They tried this already with that movie “Blockers”.. was pretty much that exact plot haha. But just like “Booksmart” was a woke version of “Superbad”, this will be the same

It's going to be a gender/race swap with something lgbtq. You simply can't get anything green-lighted without "representation".

A movie about teenagers and the awkwardness of sex for a 2022 crowd is bound to be full of LGBTQ stuff.

There will be absolutely nothing in it at all for normal heterosexual males to enjoy. Someone pointed out the last attempt at one of these movies was female focused and had no nudity at all. I mean wtf is the point. The entire franchise is built on horny teenage dudes wanting to see tits.

Every strange, warped, deviant sexuality under the sun is put up on a pedestal and celebrated but normal male heterosexuality is aggressively trashed.

For what it’s worth, Band Camp, Naked Mile, and Beta House were pretty decent. Book of Love was trash didn’t see the last one

why not a whole new movie series with a similar premise just not attached to the American Pie name, if its good or relatable it will do well
