So that is a whole additional season of filming. Five season is about ten years. Imagine those actresses want to move on.

But it was reported everywhere that he was frustrated with how far the showrunners had gone from the written work that he decided he had to leave. Sometimes, like the Richard Gere gerbil story, something is reported by so many sources, from all ideological corners of the Earth, we all accept it as true.
I am 90%+ sure that is what happened. Especially since he pulled out of the Amazon Warhammer thing for similar reasons.

That was a common complaint about the first season for those of us that didn’t know anything about The Witcher except for that it was a video game. However, Season 1 was so awesome that it didn’t matter. What that mind virus did to what could have been a truly legendary show for Netflix
is still nauseating.

Thank God, put it out of its misery. The last episode I watched was a damn oceans 11 heist trope. The first 2 seasons were so good

It’s produced by Lionsgate, which did the Wick franchise. I assume after its theatrical run it will eventually find its way to Peacock first.

It's a miracle it made it 5 seasons. In typical Netflix fashion test absolutely butchered the source material. If done we'll the Witcher IP could have been a top tier fantasy series ala Game of Thrones in its prime.
