Netflix has made good on its high-profile promise to deliver new movies every week.

Teased last October in national commercial spots, the streaming monolith is guaranteeing its roughly 193 million subscribers unseen features every week in 2021. Largely consisting of original productions as well as some splashy acquisitions, the slate has 71 titles across genres — from musicals to action, romantic comedies to family animation.

Dwayne Johnson, Melissa McCarthy, Halle Berry, Jason Momoa, Amy Adams, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Hemsworth and Lin-Manuel Miranda are among those featured in sizzle reel released Tuesday (watch below) showcasing their respective projects, which will roll out over the next 12 months.

Highlights include the mega-budgeted heist film “Red Notice,” starring Gal Gadot, Johnson, and Reynolds; the Western “The Harder They Fall” with Regina King, Idris Elba and “Lovecraft County” breakout Jonathan Majors; Adams’ “The Woman in The Window”; Zach Snyder’s “Army of the Dead”; Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Tick, Tick … Boom!”; and the impossibly starry “Don’t Look Up” starring Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ariana Grande, Timothee Chalamet, Kid Cudi and Meryl Streep.

They throw all their money behind big name stars, decent production value, and nothing creatively. All their original moves are basically gussied up Hallmark/Lifetime movies in terms of plot.

Queens Gambit and the Crown were solid.

Not much other than that. I would cancel but my kids like a few shows.

He speaks of their movies as a whole

You cherry pick one that is an outlier (and sucks at that)

For the most part, Netflix movies are time passers and nothing more. Yes there are some genuinely great ones in there, but it's a small percentage. Their goal appears to be to smother out the competition, and it should work. Today's netflix junkies just like having it on and seeing new content; they don't really pay too much attention to it. It's more about living up to the "netflix and chill" identity than it is about actually consuming good television.

Netflix is the Z Cavaricci and Drakaar of streaming

They put out some really good Netflix movies but I think they need to pump out way more.

Cancel it. We did recently and have not missed it. Just cancel it and pay for one month when something is released that you want to see. There are too many other options now that are cheaper with equal quality (not quantity though) content. Hulu and Prime are great, as is HBO+

With as much content as they put out, there will be duds and successes. They probably have a similar success rate as the industry as a whole. Why is that such a problem? Its expected to be honest.

The few i've watched have all been this. It's good production value behind a hollow story and character development. After each one, i thought, "that could have been really good if they just would have tried".
