I really don't get this one.

I rewatched Community in full last few weeks on Hulu and as others have said, the show actually addresses stereotypes and calls them out.

Chang doing a Drow is poignant for his character and the episode. It's a fictional fantasy race and they're usually evil.

Drizzt Do'Urden was a Drow that broke the norms and did good.

Literally every African-American cosplayer I have seen that has been asked this question says it's stupid - they don't mind people doing dark elf makeup.

I don’t know what any of this means. Man, I’m fricked. Bound to say something that inadvertently triggers an elf or something.

I was actually just doing a re-watch, going back and watching episodes that I thought were exceptionally funny, and when I watched this one, I said this episode is not long for Netflix when I saw that part

YES!

Where we don't get to hear most of it, but she pantomimes a lot of it :)

Apparently it's still on Hulu.
I heard yesterday that Hulu pulled it too. I checked today and yep, missing.

I really don't know how to comment on how unbelievably racist and unbearable TD has become - See Carl Reiner thread, or most of any threads or replies on any board on TD now, but this isn't a racist episode or show.

Apparently seeing the forest through the trees is too difficult.

They also pulled a Golden Girls episode while they were wearing mudmasks. At a spa.

I'm starting to wonder who is really complaining:
1. SJWs
2. Right-wing notjobs
3. Kids pulling pranks
4. Some algorithm that is aggressively tagging content

And on Hulu they pulled 3 episodes of Scrubs.

And a scene from The Office of Nate for Dwight Christmas has been cut from Netflix and syndication.

Interestingly enough the Cal Turk episode of Scrubs is still up.

Blackface isn't just putting on black make-up.

apparently it is now

Scrubs even yanked an episode where Sarah Chalke was Turk in a JD dream. That isn't black face but I guess it is is now

this is so fricking dumb

like are people really asking for these to be pulled? and by people, I mean a significant enough number for anyone to actually care?

I honestly doubt it. It's probably a very tiny number flooding their reporting systems. I doubt they have an employee watching every possible episode on their service.

it just seems to be more about people falling over themselves to show how not racist they are. Admit guilt before the cancel police uncover it and hope for mercy

quote:

“The reason why that word showrunner exists in television is because you’re the gatekeeper,” Lawrence said, “and anything that gets allowed on a show you ultimately have to take responsibility for. So, first off, I’m super sorry that any of you guys had to deal with any stuff because ultimately even though we’re all friends and it was a super creative and reciprocal environment, you guys still, at the end of the day, did and were receptive to doing whatever stuff we told you.”

Lawrence said he made the decision to pull the episodes from Hulu’s line-up.

Braff also apologized, and described his mindset at the time the episodes were taped in the early-mid 2000s. Recalling his reaction to Ted Danson’s much-condemned use of blackface at a 1993 Friars Club roast of girlfriend Whoopi Goldberg, Braff said, “I remember being shocked, like what the f*ck was that guy thinking…and I’m embarrassed to say now I never equated” the Scrubs episodes. “I thought ‘It’s a fantasy where I’m trying to be my best friend.’

“When Donald and I started the podcast he mentioned we did blackface on the show and I cringed to hear him say it out loud,” Braff continued. “It made me feel so shitty and embarrassed.”

Said Lawrence, “It starts with ignorance,” adding, “we were so f*cking proud of ourselves for doing a very diverse show, in front of and behind the camera, a great black-and-white friendship that exists as a real black-and-white friendship, a great interracial couple. It was almost a block of arrogance where we were like, ‘We’re so good at what we’re portraying and doing and showing that we could never venture into muddy waters.’ Even now, with that same ignorance, we never really connected the two of those things until now.”

I wish at least one of these idiots would stand up and say that there was nothing wrong about what they or their fellow cast member did. I'm sure some, maybe even most, feel that way. They also feel they have too much to lose if they don't bend the knee.

Hey, if we want to move forward not doing black face as we now feel it is offensive, great. I genuinely hope people look and see there was only comedic intent and people should not be tarred and feathered over what was obviously not racist in intent
