Some people may much rather spend $100 on a nice meal than at a movie theater.

That’s fine. But here’s the difference, I’m not going to go up to people and tell them not to do that. It’s just as stupid for me to tell people to only eat at home because it’s cheaper and an experience where they don’t have to deal with stupid people as it is for you to tell people not to go to the theater and watch the movie at home because it’s cheaper and you don’t have to deal with stupid people.

If the restaurant experience started dying, I’m not going to go around being like, “Who cares? I eat most of my meals at home” and don’t see how a dwindling restaurant experience negatively impacts a frickload of people other than just me

Over bloated budgets

Shitty movies and lack of creativity

Ridiculously high costs to go to the theater

It’s a shame we’ve come to this point. Netflix has zero incentive to put anything on screen.

that's good news. I hate the netflix model of throwing a ton of shite against the wall, such long breaks between the good shows, and inexplicably cancelling them before they get too expensive

works for hem but would hate to see a ton of valuable IP at WB fall victim to it

Yea I much prefer the HBO and Apple model where you have less options but all of them being quality over 5 millions shows but having to dig to find anything decent.

Not sure what type of changes Netflix is going to implement but hopefully they just let HBO carry on as usual to some degree.

You're the one arguing about movie theaters dying out while stealing money from their pockets by sneaking in candy and not supporting them by buying concessions.

I guess you just missed the whole point of me buying two large drinks and two large popcorns? Oh yeah, they’re really going to suffer and collapse because I bought my candy for $4 less at Dollar General across the street. That $4 is really going to sink the theater industry even after I spent $25-$30 on other concessions. When the industry finally sinks, you can all blame me

Bring on the AI movies with the real creative minds like Darryl from Alabama. That’s the shite we’ve been missing out on!

Great. It’s $84.06 here in Augusta, GA for an 8:10 PM showing. It costs $17.99 per adult and $15.99 per child under the age of 12.

And if you punch in the 7:20 PM showing for Zootopia 2 in Los Angeles, it comes out to $90.46 for four tickets.

Seeing prices like that, I understand why people are waiting until it comes to streaming.

It will be kept operationally separate from Netflix to make and distribute movies and TV shows

This is good but NF will still call the shots, seeing how they already hinted at the “consumer friendly” release window

If they want to win me over:

• Keep the platforms separate and have a bundle option.
• Combine the search parameters to promote both streamers and to help users.
• Make TCM more visible and accessible on HBO Max.
• Bring back ALL of the classic Warner Bros cartoons.

All I know is I'm gonna be pissed if they obsolete HBO Max and not bring Naked Attraction over to Netflix.

I have not once told anybody to not go see movies in theaters. All I've done is explain over and over to you why I choose not to go as much as I used to.

Again, that is not what anyone is arguing at all. I don't want theaters to go away. If I ate every single meal at home I would not want restaurants to go away either.

I feel like you are making up things to argue with at this point.

If everybody that went to the movies did that, theaters would lose out on like 20% of their revenue. If you don't think that is substantial, then I don't know what to tell you.

And I'm not even telling you not to sneak candy in. By all means, go for it. I'm not against that at all. But you can't also sit back and be mad that movie theaters are dying off.

I mean, if you don't see the irony in what you just said then I don't know what to tell you.

You will see more M&A and Netflix will be like Disney plus where you click on it and it has boxes with Netflix, HBO, etc like Disney does with Hulu and Star Wars

Yeah, very smart. Let’s save the movie theater industry by taking away half of its revenue.

A key asset that Netflix could be eyeing in the Warner Bros deal is one few people are talking about: an AI trove.

Among the most important aspects of the coming automated age, say forward-looking insiders, is a rich well of content going back many decades, either to train your own studio on or to give consumers to play with. Warner Bros has it. Netflix doesn’t. And if the deal goes through, the streamer will.

Netflix executives on an investor call Friday morning announcing the lucrative deal didn’t note this point explicitly; co-chief executive Ted Sarandos just said innovation several times while he and others alluded to “world-building.” But the subtext was there — since technology relies on a massive library, Netflix’s AI efforts just got a big boost.

Netflix also brings another advantage: technical machine-learning experience, honed by more than 15 years of gathering data on customers and building algorithms to serve them. Now armed with a content library, their Sora-like AI product, should they launch one, could be a juggernaut. And the company has been making a new push into games, which are a sort-of digital cousin of user-generated tools.

Is that at the Regal right off of Wheeler Rd or the Riverwatch Cinemas? Not disputing what you're saying, just curious.

I guess it could be Evans Cinema to

I would be pretty surprised if the current Admin doesn't oppose this on Anti-Trust grounds. They have been pretty open to letting these things happen, but Netflix is super far left, so I'm pretty sure they aren't going to love this
