Really into these after finishing Designated Survivor.

Similar shows I thoroughly enjoyed:

Homeland
Looming Tower
The Americans
Person of Interest

Not into the Sci-Fi type. I’m talking realistic CIA, FBI investigative storylines.

What else is out there you would recommend?

I vaguely remember this show being on cable. Big Sutherland fan as well. But does the storyline completely change each show? I more into storylines that stretch out the entire series.

Netflix has a few decent Aussie political/spy thriller shows you might want to check out.

Do you mean each episode or each season?

Each season is one 24 hour period (thus the title) and each episode leads directly from one to the next, going hour by hour through the 24 episodes. It's a pretty cool format, and the show is certainly a show to binge. I've only seen one whole season (season 5) but it was great watching it with my brother and sister one Christmas when we all got together for a week.

The Unit...

Not quite as good as others listed but it’s a different suggestion

Season 2 dropping on Netflix March 6

A few months ago I read that Netflix only bought Secret City because there were plans for a second season. The first season originally aired in Australia a couple of years ago. I thought we’d have to wait longer, but S2 is currently airing in Australia.

I thoroughly enjoyed this in real time, even had “The Unit” ringtone on my Nextel phone.

Update:

I thoroughly enjoyed Bodyguard. Great UK series. I can see why it's so widely popular now. Certified fan of Keeley Hawes now

24 was the shite! Watched 5 seasons. Probably my favorite of the group. It was almost as if each season got better and better. Jack Baur is damn maniac lol.

Informer was really good. What messed up and sad storyline though. Completely ruined the guy's life. But what an amazing acting job by Rizwan. Also Jessica Raines is another

Jack Ryan felt the most realistic and probable storyline in today's world we live, which appealed to me the most. Another series I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Although I never understood the significance of the drone pilot in Vegas. What the hell was that about.

I can't find any place to watch Rubicon for free. $2/episode on Amazon I believe.

Other series I just finished that are somewhat related to terrorism/intelligence: Line of Duty (all 3 series were for the most part really good) and The Night Manager (decent; worth the watch).

Any other recommendations from anyone?

I actually wanted to start that series a couple nights ago but couldn't find anywhere to stream it. Do you know which platform has it?

The Night Manager

trailer

A six episode miniseries, based on John Le Carre book, stars Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddelston.

Pretty solid short binge.

Eta: I see in your update you already watched this.
