What was the movie with Dennis Quaid where he's an older dude and pitches past a speed trap and ends up getting a job in the big leagues?

It was good for what it was but I feel like it would have been much better as a mini series. There was just so much ground that it had to cover that it really couldn't get nearly as in depth as the subject deserved. I feel that way about most biopics though so take that with a grain of salt.

A solid chunk of this board would flip its shite over this movie for cramming SJW lib BS down our throats if it was released today.

Don't do this to the boy. He loves baseball, not lobotomies.

It's your usual by the numbers auto-bio-baseball movie.

It had the race angle, so it was going to get good reviews no matter what.

But it's an enjoyable watch. Good for the kid if he's old enough to understand the social issues.

6 years of travel ball will take care of that.

A lot of good movies already named.
Ken Burns Baseball documentary is great if he is interested in the history of the game.

The original Angles In The Outfield is a good movie but I would steer clear of the remake. Pride of the Yankees is a great one too. Both come on TCM from time to time.

Moneyball. 8 might be too young, but I liked it.

There s a kind of obscure movie named Mickey which is based on a John Grisham book and stars Harry Connick, Jr. I enjoyed it.

The story is about a father (Connick) whose son pitches his last game of Little Leaque. Connick is a lawyer who gets in some legal and/or financial trouble and has to go on the run with his son. They land up in California or Las Vegas or somewhere out west. Throwing the ball around at a local park, the kid catches the eye of one of the coaches/administrators of the LL. Won't give any more than that away.

The show had some excellent takes on youth baseball. There was a scene with a LL draft which was spot on to some of the ones I've been involved in.

I grew up loving LSU baseball from 1991-..., I was 10. Major movies were:
Field of Dreams
8 Men Out
The Natural
The Sandlot

I knew those movies, word for word.
