The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. For other people, not so much.

Commando is one of my favorite movies but it gets shite on all the time. I don't really care.

I haven't lurked as much over here as the other boards... Like I said... Generally, my wife hates all of the movies that I like... I just went off of the one's that she goes out of her way to voice her displeasure...

I like some movies that I also just acknowledge are terrible. Its all about expectations.

For example, my 15 year old brain was ready to be blown away by the Village, and we all know how that went. Because I was so excited for it, I fricking hate that movie now.

Star Wars prequels

The third one was passable, and they have semi-enjoyable moments.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

- Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions

I actually agree with these. Obviously not better than first, but still good.

Avatar

It's a passable movie.

Superman Returns

Hate this movie.

All 3 Transformer movies

Yeah this is a troll.

No self-respecting person dismisses Commando.

I maintain the pod race sequence from Episode I is one of the coolest things every put to film. Would love to watch that 10 minutes in an IMAX with volume up to 11. Same could be said of the freeway chase sequence from Reloaded.

Saw Avatar 3 times in IMAX and loved every second of it - as others have said the "experience" just doesn't carry over to the small screen, though I can still watch it all the way through about once a year. Enjoy all 3 Transformers while being fully aware of how terrible the plot and dialog are. I feel bad for people who can't turn off the internal Ebert and enjoy craptastic popcorn movies for what they are.

I haven't seen anyone talk about Tron Legacy, but I feel safe in assuming it was loathed on here. Loved it - especially with the Daft Punk score. The build up to the light-bike scene had my hair standing on end by the time it really got going; just great fun.

Also:

Aspen Extreme
Any old 80's Arnold "bottomless clip" action movie (Commando, etc)
All the F&F movies except 2Fast-2Furious (when they blew up the R34 in the first scene I turned it off)
Bad Boys II (first one as well, though most people seem to like that more)
Day After Tomorrow
2012 (LOVE a good, cheesy disaster movie)

ETA: I guess I should point out that if a movie has a few really, really enjoyable moments, I tend to give it a pass for terrible plot, etc. I guess my standards are just absurdbly low

Enough people have chided you for your list, I'l lay off that.

Here's mine:

- Blade Runner the theatrical version: I saw it when it came out, I still say it's the best version

- Avatar: my first viewing was iMax and I was blown away. For me, that did translate to the small screen, even though it's just Dances with Wolves with aliens

- Salt: a lot of people don't like this one, I was entertained.

[edited to add] my all time guilty pleasure movie - North Shore. And I don't even surf.

Both of these sequences kick arse, but they could have done much better and different methods to get to them.

Honestly you should feel bad for us in some ways. I wish I could enjoy Transformers like the general populace.... but its just too insulting and stupid for me as someone who knows alot about film, character development, and plot structure. Films that don't do those two things right anger me.

Not particularly. Its really an overly hated film for no real reason. Honestly its just a great extended music video. I very much enjoyed Tron Legacy and thought it was the perfect sequel to TRON.

Oh God, Roland Emmerich. Sorry, but Roland Emmerich makes Michael Bay look like Christopher Nolan. At least Michael Bay tries to make it as realistic as possible by having actual explosions and stunts whenever possible. Emmerich just doesn't give a shite though. Everything in his films is from a computer. 10,000 BC is just the most horribly made film that it makes me want to gouge out my eyes.

I think this sums me up perfectly. I loved Armageddon and The Rock too, btw. I did not realize those were also hated! Fast and the Furious is probably the only franchise like that I did not care for, but that is probably because I do not give two shits about cars.

Movies I like that others probably hate:

Transformers
Avatar
Underworld 1 and 2
Blade 1,2,3
John Carter
Waterworld
The Postman

ETA: People hate The Rock? How can you hate that movie?
