Apacolypse Now- don't get it.
Chinatown- Boring, shitty ending.
I'm assuming that somewhere in these pages someone has corrected the OP and told him that Star Wars is not Sci-Fi?

I second The Big Lebowski, Monty Python and Boondock Saints.
Im not crazy about Star Wars, but I do like them. Sooo whatever that means in regards to this thread.
Strictly speaking in terms of this board, you could say Memento and Children of Men.

Add Reservoir Dogs to my list.
Star Wars is about 80% fantasy, 20% science ficiton.

quote:Of that list, only Star Trek is sci-fi. The others are fantasy. Fantasy and sci fi tend to have similar fan bases, but the genres are pretty different. There's no science in Harry Potter or Star Wars.
Any sci-fi ish movie. LOTR, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter.

I didn't like Collateral. I think if I was Jamie Foxx I could have gotten out of that situation.

Okay that makes two.
Can someone please tell me how space dwelling humans, aliens, telekinesis, spaceships, light speed, etc. is not science fiction?

Most people, including George Lucas, consider Star Wars fantasy rather than Sci Fi. The actual science in the movie is basically irrelevant to the plot, and there's no dystopian aspect. It's "a galaxy far, far away" rather than a portrait of the future.

I can see the argument that Star Wars is Science Fantasy, and not Science Fiction. Sci fi is more like Star Trek where they truly go into the physics in the universe and it is scientifically feasible. Star Wars really nothing is feasible within it, from the lightsabers to the Force. Whenever Star Wars go into the physics of its universe, it fails, while many Star Trek episodes solely deal with these concepts.

Tommy wiseau made 'The Room' as a "thriller/drama/suspenseful" movie... Doesn't mean it's not a comedy... Just sayin

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is funnier to quote than to actually watch.

Idk what everyone around TD thinks of it, but I know I was shunned by almost all of my buds when I said I hated it. I tried watching it again just to see if I missed anything, but it's still a snoozefest to me.

District 9 is a good film, but its not a film I have much desire to see again. It is fairly disgusting, horrifying, and sad really.
