The end of Where the Red Fern Grows (especially the book) with Old Dan and Little Ann is the saddest dog movie ever.

About every two or three years I re-read Where the Red Fern Grows. I cry every time.

Field of Dreams - have a catch?

Sonofabitch, I just watched it and teared up in my office. I'm lucky to still have my Dad, but my heart breaks just thinking about NOT having him. I can't even listen to "Cats in the Cradle", ever.

Great scene.

I don't have any children of my own yet but I adore my 2 nephews (age 5 and age 2) like they were my own and I have a whole new appreciation for that song thinking of them and my brother (their dad). That song is so sad and depressing when you really think about what it's saying.

Only one movie has really got me teary eyed in adulthood, and it is because it was unexpected and came a couple of weeks after a death, but:

The scene in Click where he sees his dad for the last time, and he just blows him off, and the father just walks away breaking down.

The end of Armageddon (seriously) when the little boy runs out to Chick.

Forrest Gump when he talks to Jenny at her grave.

The Patriot when the youngest girl finally talks and runs up to Mel Gibson begging him not to go.

There are more, but that's all I can think of for now.

When Will Smif' had to break Sam's neck in 'I Am Legend'

Damned if it didn't make me sad..and wanted to kill every zombie myself..

Also second the part in The Patriot when the little girl says "daddy don't leave I'll say anything you want me to just don't go..I'll say anything" and Gibson's reaction to that

I agree with most posts in here. Didn't full on cry, but tears came during Marley & Me and Saving Private Ryan.

I'm not ashamed to say that I was so into LOTR, that the first time I saw Return of the King it got to me. At the end when Aragorn tells the hobbits they bow to no one. However, I watched it on TV the other day and it did nothing to me this time.

Another is John Q. When Denzel decides he's going to kill himself to save his son, he is talking to him about growing up and telling him to stay away from the bad things. Not a great movie, but that scene made me tear up
