Imagine living with that weight for 50+ years. Knowing that many men laid down their lives specifically for you. And not only that, they did it during warfare and it’s been extremely difficult to impossible for you to discuss it with people that you love. You also have to live with the knowledge that you got to have a family, you got to see your children grow up, you got to watch your children have children etc.

Being a dad, often thinking about how my kids see the things around them, what they remember, etc… the final scene from The Wonder Years get me
quote:
Growing up happens in a heartbeat. Once day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house, like a lot of houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. On a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back... with wonder.

Didn’t read the thread. This was not posted I’m sure. The hijacked planes flying into the towers. That shite be played every day on some channel somewhere to remind us of what this country should be about. But that would be racist now I’m sure??

Just watched Captain Phillips for the first time the other day.
The scene after he was rescued and is being attended to by the navy medics. He is in complete shock and can only mutter a few words at a time.
Hanks knocks it out of the park and I admit to getting teary-eyed during it. What really made it hit was the lack of any music score during the entire scene.
After the emotional rollercoaster of a movie, especially the lifeboat struggle, you get sucked in to seeing what a broken man is going through thinking he should’ve been dead.
Tom Hanks has always been phenomenal, but that scene put him over the top for me.

This scene in Click really broke me as a 12 year old. Can't imagine having to re-watch the last time you ever spoke to your dad and you were an arse to him. Then he says "I love you son" and walks away forever.
I was getting emotional around that scene, but the scene where he chases his son in the rain and dies is what broke me. Especially with the dramatic score playing over it.
One of Sandler’s better movies.

The scene in Interstellar when Cooper starts looking at the video recordings of his kids after 20+ years have passed on the water planet….. the score makes that scene so impactful.

Couple from “We are Marshall “ . When the injured player gets the call that everyone on the plane died. All were his friends and teammates.
When the girlfriend of the QB, who died on the plane, tells his Dad she won’t leave town because she doesn’t want to leave him alone.
Great movie.

Don’t forget the scene where a grieving Nate is in the locker room with the shoulder injury and the coach repeatedly hits his shoulder asking if it hurts and he continually says his “shoulder’s fine” while choking back tears.

Yeah, I would imagine that he would want to know that he lived up to the men that died for him.
Captain Miller’s last words to Ryan were “Earn this.”
quote:Spielberg did a fine job showing this in the opening scene. Ryan in front. Followed not too closely by his wife. Then his son and daughter in law. Then the grandchildren. The only one who would have had some idea of Ryan’s war would probably been his wife. She’s likely to have been privy to the dreams and night terrors and the ghosts that never leave. The rest of the family much less aware probably.

I hope everyone "gets it" because it's an overly simple narrative done via spoon-feeding.
Again, add in shitty production quality and bad acting and it really detracts from a good movie.

That scene in Friday Night Lights(Movie) towards the very end of the state championship, when Mike Winchell is trying to call the play, 54 seconds left, and he can barely say, “i-Right, 90….” Then someone asks him “are you alright?” Then the way he looks at him and answers “yeah!”, like as if it’s even an option to be NOT alright. That part always gets me. That kid was all heart.
There’s probably 5-6 scenes from the state championship game that still tingle my spine, even tho I’ve seen it literally 1000+ times (at least) since 2004.

Michael Scott leaving the office, Pam rushes to say goodbye
Old couple while the titanic is going down
The entire ending of The Green Mile
I cannot watch any of those without crying.

Willem Dafoe being left behind and shot to pieces in Platoon. Just the thought of him running for his life and the choppers flying away is heartbreaking along with the music of that scene. God I love that movie…

It's the woman tucking her kids into bed while the ship is sinking that gets me in that part of the movie

I will say this about About Time.
It will leave you a blubbering mess. But not just in a devastating way. It is VERY sweet and emotional. So in a way, it's a good cry as much as a bad one.
It just hits so perfectly and as weird of a movie as it is, it just sort of makes sense and works really well. And it also has a hot Rachel McAdams in it too. Dammit, now I want to go watch it, but I know it's gonna hit so different now because of my son. shite.
