The Sum Of All Fears: The government tried to get all the news outlets to cover up the attack in Denver. Today there would be pictures on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Millions of people would know before they could shut everything down.

Not that it works in the first place since the family has to be despicable for it to work, but Home Alone. A family as big and rich as the McCallisters would for sure have multiple channels save for the phone to communicate with him.
