Oasis Motel on the westbank - Dallas Buyers Club

Sad but it's true.

I've never gone to a location because of a movie, but I have been to Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska where they filmed the opening of The Hunt for Red October.

Little more obscure one, I was recently in Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas where they filmed the dance scenes in Michael.

Fun fact, it’s also the same venue where George Straight’s Ace in the Hole band played their first gig.

Remember that old 1980s horror movie House with William Katt and George Wendt.

When I lived in California, we lived a few streets away from the House

I’ve been to many others, not because of a movie just because many movie landmarks are famous places in general.

But the House house is the most obscure and random movie landmark I’ve been to.

Almost forgot, the house from that Sandra Bullock movie Birdbox was right down the street from where we lived.

And for Psych fans, there was a couple episodes that featured Gus’ parents home. The outside shots of the house were from another home in our neighborhood.

My grandpa lived just outside Pittsburgh and used to show me the house where buffalo bill lived in silence of the lambs not far from his house. Always thought he was just making it up, until I looked it up and it certainly was it. Creepy as hell.

Hobbiton, Rivendell, and Helm’s Deep from LOTR. Hobbiton was great to see. Helm’s Deep was just a quarry.

Not movie but definitely walked around The Others camp from lost. Those little cabins are right on the side of the highway.

Did a tour of lord of the rings sets in NZ and visited some of the iconic ones from the movies.

When I first moved to Chicago, that was one thing I did right away. Went by the Home Alone house, the fancy garage from Ferris Bueller, the motel from Planes Trains and Automobiles, and my personal favorite, the water fountain from Married With Children.

Went to the Valley of Fire in Nevada where several movies and TV shows including Star Trek shot alien planet scenes.

Also is a southern tradition to take your mom and aunts to the Steel Magnolia house in Natchitoches.

Most of the Midtown Manhattan sites - Central Park, Waldorf lobby, Trump Tower, Tiffany's, FAO Schwartz, Times Square, Chrysler building, ESB, Flat Iron, St. Patrick's, Rockefeller (with the Christmas tree up and lit), NY Public Library with the lions out front, etc.

Pearl Harbor and the Lost "arrival" beach.

Site of the Hindenburg disaster

Front Street in Natchitoches (Steel Magnolias, among others)

Virtually any site at LSU including the stadium and quad from Everybody's All American

The old governor's mansion in Baton Rouge (see The Expendables, among others), and all the sites around the new capital (The Toy and many others)

ETA: I forget the name of the place, but the retro café in Laplace from Monster's Ball - I want to say Airline Motors, but I'm not sure if it was that one or the other place.

Also ETA: The Mall in D.C. - too many to count

Not a movie but I’ve been to a wedding at Southfork a few years ago.

Also did the piano thing from Big.

Also the Steel Magnolia house.

Went to the Goonies house when I visited Astoria.

A lot of the scenes from the Pitch Perfect movies were around LSU.

forgot to put in my other post that we visited the hotel that serves as the exterior of the hotel in The Shining (Mt Hood Oregon). I think the interior is completely different.
