Happens in a Kumite type fight.
Both have seen the other in action and two months to train.

What about this dude?
Tong Po was supposed to be so badass but he was just some retarded looking rapist.

I thought about Drago vs Chong Li but figured one 1800 psi punch to the gut (Chong Li’s weak spot as evidenced in Bloodsport) and he would be done.
And even in a scenario where he’s seen Drago fight I think he’d still be cocky and not take Drago seriously till it was too late to realize his mistake leaving himself wide open for a Siberian Hurt Bomb.

You guys are assuming that since Drago was a great boxer that he would be just as effective fighting MMA?

Who said anything about MMA?

Drago lands one glass-covered punch and Tong Po is beef jerky.

Are you expecting Drago to just box, or just fight? Same question to Chung Li and Tong Po. Do they just box, or just fight?
One could argue that one kick from either Tong Po or Chung Li would drop Drago.

One body or head kick from Tong Po or Chung Li and Drago is sent to nighty night.

That’s kind of my thoughts too. I know Mhuy Thai is more well rounded fighting style than classic boxing but the variable here is Drago landing one punch with a taped fist. He does that and it’s most likely a gamechanger. I think we can also say growing up in the Soviet Union and being in military Drago also knows how to just brawl.
Tong Po is a monster though who can crack concrete pillars with his legs.
I’ll try to see if I can find some weights and measurements for these guys

It’s a Kumite style match so fight in their chosen style plus whatever they learn in their two months of training.

One could also argue that one punch with a taped fist from Drago could knock them smooth out and then some.

Drago has a weak mid section, Rocky exposed that. If a Mhuy Thai fighter latches on and get the knees going, Drago could start to leak and falter like he did against Balboa.

Apollo Creed was lighting up that commie's head and he didn't even blink.
Drago ain't no pillar, son!

Rick Roufus (USA) vs Changpuek Kietsongrit(THA)
Kickboxing vs Muay Thai..... this match changes the world view on fighting...
spiolers.. Muay Thai won.

Rick’s two mistakes:
No training montage
No Eye of the Tiger/ Heart of a Champion
Probably didn’t have a crackety washed up old guy who said he’d never coach again as a trainer either.
Amateur hour and a disgrace to this country.

Some people in here are severely underestimating the sheer size and athleticism of Ivan Drago. If you gave that dude months to train and prepare for a Kumite type of brawl, I'd imagine he would fare well against the fighters.
Also, Tong Po doesn't belong in this discussion. He's solid and can take a hit/kick, but anybody with real power could damage him. And as long as you close the gap and stay away from his legs/kicks, you're golden IMO.
ETA: I'd love to see measurements on Drago. Dolph Lundgren is 6'5", so I imagine Drago would be a couple inches taller than that in the movie.

Michel Qissi, the actor who played Tong Po is 6'2. But when the height is a wash, which it appears to be in this situation. Reach is going to be the thing you look at.

Good stuff. Really put into perspective how far beating your meat will take you.

May have to swap arms, sit on that hand till the circulation cuts off, and give myself a Stranger tonight.
