Casablanca was remade in 1983 on television with David Soul as Rick.

This.

But it’s going to happen and fail miserably. I can already see the boxes being checked.
Yep. I think in the next 25 years, we get a reboot.

I want to say Bob Gale AND Bob Zemekis both said that as long as they’re alive a BTTF remake or reboot will not happen.

Any really good comedy is often lighting in a bottle that just cant be reproduced . I cant think of any good comedy remakes off the top of my head. Hell the sequels even with the same cast often dont work.

The Big Lebowski
Twins
Dumb and Dumber
Raising Arizona
Airplane

That’s mine as well. Any classic film remade today will be a vehicle for recasting its characters to align with today’s wokeness. It won’t be just characters but critical themes and motivations also. Casablanca would be converted to thousands of military age African males swamping a small Italian village and their struggle to pass on to greater Europe, France, Great Britain, Germany et al while making Italians aware of the great cultural advances the immigrants bring to the village.

God can only imagine what It’s A Wonderful Life would look like remade today.

Oh, they could remake Casablanca... Hollywood loves them some Nazis getting it handed to them...small film, love story...good guys win.

1. Birth of a Nation

Pretty confident nobody's remaking that. But that's just a hunch.

So many movies could go on this list... Gone With the Wind Raiders of the Lost Ark High noon Patton Schindler's List

I actually have to disagree on High Noon. That’s not to say anything negative about the quality of the original. I somewhat view it like True Grit, where the original was similarly iconic and near perfect, but the story could be told through an updated /different lense.

I agree with you on the other four, and think I’d actually put Raiders in a special place among them.

If they remade that in 2025, Marty would be going back to 1995. That makes me feel....well, old.

They remade original with Armand Asante (sp) in the Gregory Peck role.

"Rocky" is a strong candidate. "Reservoir Dogs," too.

Personally, my all-time favorite film has already been remade, and poorly: 1974's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre."

Well, since we're talking 'untouchable', how about the Untouchables? In order for Hollywood to 'modernize' that, they'd literally have to change history/reality.
