i'm not saying that it doesn't work either. it works, you feel satisfied when the guy dies, but it's a cheap payoff because they just threw the kitchen sink at the audience trying to make them hate this guy. there's no motivation of character either, nothing to understand his actions...he's just an evil a hole...because the script called for one. it's bad enough he kills the kid, but then he has to tell the grieving father that his kid was stupid at least mel Gibson's character isn't perfect (though they made sure not to have their protagonist be a slave owner) because we find out he was once a savage POS too.

oh and props to nailing his dead wife's sister with the amazing rack...why wasn't he on that earlier. in the 18th century you'd think he would be putting out feelers at the funeral. Oh and she's rich too
