I was a teen, but when Dallas was in the air vent "hunting" the Alien, that was intense.

I just watched Patriots Day for the first time and I think I held my breath the entire marathon bomb scene and the Watertown street fight.

Another one for me is the last 15 or so minutes of The Kingdom. Jamie Foxx, Jason Bateman, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner movie about a terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia. The whole movie is fantastic, but man the last 15 minutes or so are SUPER intense.
Excellent selection.

Green Room (2015) is pretty intense for most of its runtime.
Also, Prisoners (2013), though not because of action or violence.
Second half of Hacksaw Ridge (2016), even if it gets a little cartoonish in places.

Original Chestburster scene in Alien-
Anyone who says they didn't grip their armrests when they saw it for the first time is fricking lying. Maybe the most perfectly executed sucker punch in the history of film.

The shower scene in the original Psycho.
As I kid I physically jumped back from the TV when he ripped the curtain back.

Great answers in this thread.
The first one on the top of my head is CBandits choice though. The beginning scene of Inglourious Basterds is as tense as it gets.

I’ll also add the scene where Dallas goes into the vents.

That’s a good one. Once shite hits the fan, it’s pretty nonstop intense.
