For the life of me I never knew this bit of trivia about the Biggus Dickus scene. The extras were given no script, no context, they were just told not to laugh. Michael Palin comes out there and does everything in his power to make them all crack. The man who finally loses it is the camera man.

The last time I tried watching it came on TCM. My wife loves that channel for classic movies, so I encouraged her to watch it with me and my grown son who was visiting.
Everything was fine until we got flashed by full frontal dick. I suppose I’ve seen the edited version so many times I just didn’t think TCM would show an unedited version.
My wife did not find that scene as hilarious as I did. It offended her sensibilities.
