I actually thought the first episode was straight boring, which surprised me because Fincher is my favorite director.
It get much better after that.
But yeah, the relationship stuff wasn't that interesting.
It was best when that stuff mirrored what was happening to Holden in his job.
I actually found Bill's personal life much more interesting.

quote:They are following the timeline of the BSU foundation in the FBI. Not to mention, BTK Killer is the ultimate goal of this series. Which he doesn't get caught for another 30 years.
While I really, really liked the show, I do think they need to have more interviews and pick up the pace a bit next year.

They just had long long long segments of pretty much nothing.
And this is coming from someone who really enjoyed the show.
Pacing needs to be much tighter.

quote:Well Bill's personal life is going to be more interesting than Holden's. Bill brings his work home and has to hide it from his family. While Holden bounces ideas off of his girlfriend. I also believe his son's behavior will come into play in future seasons.

quote:I see it completely different. This show didn't waste time with filler material. We even have an episode that clocked in at the 30-35 minute mark. Which is something you never seen in tv drama's.

This show needed more Ed Kemper. In fact, it should have been all Ed Kemper. The other killers were lame.

I thought we got the right amount of Ed Kemper. He intrigued Holden & Bill (Especially Holden). Got them to seek out other violent criminals. Then he pushed Holden completely over the edge. Which Bill warned him about. But Holden didn't follow his advice.
I also liked the Beverly Jean Shaw murder in PA.

Regardless, the show lit up when Ed Kemper was on screen.
He was amazing.

It’s a very good series. Very underrated.

Did not read through the thread as I am on episode 5, but this is a great series. I am not even into this type of genre as example could not get into True Detective.

Kemper didn't do anything to Holden in the last episode. Clearly Kemper is not capable of any feelings like love or empathy, but it seems like Holder at least entertained him, Not to mention Holden is not the profile of the people Kemper killed, i.e. young women.
What I have been thinking about is what induced the panic attack? The thought that a serial killer hugged him and found him to be a kindred spirit? It just seemed like a huge swing considering Holden had been almost clinical in his personal and work relationships.

I thought the season was great but do wish a little more had happened. I kept waiting for it to really take off and it never truly did. Incredibly tense throughout, S2 is setup well.

I kind of felt like it was an allegory for Ford getting so close to real evil and letting it touch him and the physical and emotional toll it took him culminated in that instant

I think if that's what you are looking for, then you should watch the silence of the lambs series. I don't mean that in a snobbish way, but this is the peeled back version of those movies. They were based on these stories, so this version isn't going to be quite as dramatic in a natural story telling sense, but the realness of it makes it even scarier than what Anthony Hopkins can make you feel.

I literally said it was great . I don't need 6 episodes of them guns blazing chasing the BTK dude but given how tense the series was and the amount of foreshadowing they were doing throughout I thought the payoff could have been better.

I would lower your expectations on that either way especially given the actual story of the BTK story. It ain't a sexy Hollywood story

Jorts, it develops into a very interesting show.

I felt the same way as Jorts after watching the 1st episode. This thread is the only reason I stuck with it. Glad I did. It was excellent.

Just finished and loved it.
Anyone else not like Fords girlfriend? Just seemed like an odd fit
What was the deal with the park city Kansas guy?
