The way people talked about this movie tells you so much about them. They either omg I love it it’s was so subversive and you just didn’t get how it was amazing because it broke down how a toxic relationship forms and are maintained.
These are dumbasses and you should never listen to what they say. The others are like, yeah this is a dumb. I’m clearly getting wickerman rip off vibes and he didn’t cheat on her in all honestly he was drugged up. It’s the worst movie I’ve seen in years especially relative to the adoration it gets.

Wait I’ll admit I didn’t perform a psychoanalysis on this movie that wants to be the most intellectually above reproach piece of Cinema in history, but I’m almost certain her parents like died because her sister burned the house down with them all inside. It was supposed to show how he’s not only the worlds worst boyfriend but worst human ever born. Sherman on his March south would’ve had more empathy. Top marks movie

where did i say dani has no flaws? she killed someone because he was raped and she considered it cheating. Albeit everyone was extremely fricked up at this point and zero chance they could perceive anything rationally

What was subversive about Midsommar? It was a pretty straight rip off of Wicker Man but built around a relationship. The movie was by the numbers and in no way subversive

Are you seriously going to sit here with a straight face and lie to yourself and all of us this movie doesn’t fail to paint her as any word that means good in the English language? Also someone who is just such a loving gf but her bf doesn’t act like a real human. I’ve never seen a guy treat his gf like that. It’s like he wishes she wouldn’t just go away but cease to exist. The ENTIRE MOVIE frames what she does is correct and morally right and you’re stupid and don’t get it if you don’t like it. Even when they pose her moral choices “if we can call them that” they’re not really. I mean not in the tone of the movie. It's because AA did a bad job of taking a pretty standard folk horror movie ripping off Wicker Man and tried to add layers that didn't elevate the movie as much as give fodder for internet bickering.

I am not just a contrarian either or trolling. I loved the movie about the demon who needs a child, the little girls head gets cut off holding it out a car window. His movie before this disaster. I just think he 1)Dreamed too big 2) didn’t say what he wanted to say 3) and if he actually did do number 2 he didn’t give a single frick about saying one sentence about it’s not men 100% that cause relationship to go toxic
