Wait Malt was epic? I thought it was the Seige of Vienna when the Wing Hussar arrived

100% in. I highly recommend reading Defenders of the West by Raymond Ibrahim. An excellent primer for a show like this.

Geez so true. Let’s go Mel…make us proud.
I haven’t been to a movie theater in ages, but I’ll go for this. I love learning about this era of my ancestry. We definitely need more well done western Euro Christian history movies to get us back on track.
Edit…just reread it and see it’ll be a tv mini-series. Either but them all in the theater and I’ll pay to support.

Read the book The Great Siege by Ernle Bradford. Will check out the movie and hope it is done well. The numbers claimed in the OP are a little off though. It was around 6k defenders to around 40k attackers. The relief force that arrived and routed the Ottomans was 8k Spanish and Italians

They never weren't. The first crusade came after almost 500 years of muslim invasions of Europe.
The Arab slave trade from 650-1900 is estimated to have trafficked 10-20M people.
Low end estimates have 500k European Christians being sold into slavery by Arab or Islamic caliphates prior to the Crusades.
Anyone pretending the Crusades were just some unprovoked action is either uneducated or advancing an agenda.

14 People don't know history. Sadly.

Of those 6k defenders though many of them were servants, citizens conscripted as militia, or men at arms employed by the Knights Hospitaller. Only around 600 of them were knights belonging to the order. So it is a bit misleading but technically accurate.

They should make a movie about the Leper King aka, Baldwin who took 500 knights and defeated Saladin 26k soldiers and nearly took his head off too. He was 16 at the time.
Oh boy, they would be so angry!

The defense of St. Elmo alone would make a great series. St. Elmo is the fort across the bay, were the defenders died to the last man.
Then the main siege really starts and it is epic.

I'd like to see Xenophon and the 10,000 made into a movie

He was featured in the movie Kingdom of Heaven. He is only shown at the late stages of his leprosy but his victory at Montgisard is mentioned.
Edward Norton was great in this role, but they definitely toned down his spirituality and made him more of a pacifist who was skeptical of organized religion.
The real Baldwin was deeply religious and understood that peace could only be temporary. He certainly understood that Saladin was a major threat. I think the film makers wanted him to counter the more blood thirsty portrayals of Guy de Lusignan and Reynald de Chatillon.

PoPo Medic's other YT Channel has a great video about this battle.
Basically, the Knights of St. John told the Muslim hoard: "I'm your Huckleberry" and decimated their force through tactics and sheer willpower and faith in The Almighty.
