Its still not the original. What is the purpose of a sequel to the movie?

well as has been stated - there were several books written to continue the story.

how about introducing an entirely new generation to the character of Mary Poppins? besides - if they had remade it to to do the above, the amount of bitching would surpass the Superdome full of feminists on the rag.

so continue the story, appeal to the old fans like myself, bring in new fans to introduce them to the magic of the character.

sorry i see nothing wrong with this - and to me they did it the right way.

Julie Andrews is old af and has only done a few live-action films this century.

By when Andrews could do it, I meant like 40+ years ago. I actually don’t think she is physically able to sing, IIRC she had a botched surgery.

Would be worth it just to see 93-year-old Dick Van Dyke hoofing it.

This right here.

That looks pretty good.

I love how they mixed in the animation over live action like the original. The horse and buggy animation looks like it could have come directly from the old one - it looks very appropriate and not too CGI.

Well there's like 10 books written by P.L. Travers. Did you bitch about the Harry Potter movies?

The original was perfect in every way

Personally I thought it was far too long. The play is very good.

It takes balls to reprise the role of Mary Poppins.

Julie Andrews can’t be topped. And I really like Emily Blunt.

That said, the trailer made me wish they had just done a remake with the exact original storyline and setting.

Why do these people continue to remake movies that do not need to be remade? The original was perfect in every way and no one, NO ONE, will ever out perform Julie Andrews in this part. I have no desire to see the remake/reboot but if the theaters decide to show the original again, even in my 40s, I would not hesitate to go see it with no shame!!!

It's a sequel, not a remake, you malcontent. Try to find something to smile about today. You'll be much happier instead of old and bitter.

Well, lets see.....

Movies are made to make money, and this is the Mouse. This movie will make tons of money. Its the perfect family film for Christmas.

You dont want to go see it? Then dont. Myself, with millions of others, and it looks like most of this board(which are men) will be there with me.

I'm oddly excited about this movie, but I've already told myself that I have to grade it on a curve.

I'm a huge Blunt fan, but I simply don't believe anyone can play Mary Poppins like Andrews did. It's as iconic and as perfect a fit as any role in movie history.

Mary Poppins is my wife’s favorite movie, so I am sure we will see it in the theater. Trailer looks great.

I liked how they CGI'd Dick Van Dyke's head onto the dancing body.

Might actually be him. He can still move
