I think Marvel is starting to dig a little too deep into the character pool for the casual fans.

I know we've discussed this before and I may be beating a dead horse, but Marvel is well past the point of printing money with lower tier characters that even comic book nerds didn't really care about. It's all about casting and production.

At this point, I almost believe Kevin Fiege could revive Rob Schneider's career by casting him as the Human Stapler.

I'm not necessarily rooting for them to get more obscure, just saying I don't think they're reliant on character name ID anymore.

ETA: I personally think rebooting the F4 or X-Men is a bigger risk for Marvel Studios right now than introducing new characters.

Can you imagine if Deadpool crashed D23 this year?

You could do just 4 x-men and still get 1000% more build-up than the FF4.

I don’t think that you understand the significance of the Fantastic Four and what they have done with them in the comics.

Judging the FF as characters based on their films is like judging the Beatles based on Shatner’s cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Here's the video of Feige confirming Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Captain Marvel 2, Fantastic Four, and the introduction of mutants into the MCU.

That would have been huge. If/when that happens, That'll be right up there with getting Spidey back as the biggest MCU news they ever announce.

I’m sure the movies will be fine but this is going to be the MCU’s problem going forward. No one is excited for Captain Marvel 2 or Doctor Strange. They’re really only excited about Spider Man and Black Panther. They’re really going to have to nail the XMen, Fantastic Four, Spider Man 3 and Black Panther 2 to reengergize the fan base because that lineup is They’re going to miss Evans and RDJ so much and it looks like Hemsworth will get his sendoff in Thor 4. And if Phase 4 underperforms I’d almost bet my life both Fantastic Four and X-Men will be Phase 5

This just isn’t true. This board may have not liked Captain Marvel, but let’s not ignore that the character has a huge following.

And while I think people may have been meh on Strange before, what they did with him in Infinity War and Endgame has people really excited.

There will be another Deadpool movie, but he won’t be in the MCU proper. Walt had a hard no F bombs policy for every movie released under the Walt Disney Studios banner and they have never broken that policy.

The next Deadpool movie will be under the Fox banner and will probably do his usual meta references, but he won’t be in the mainline MCU. But we’ve already touched on the multiverse in the movies, so it doesn’t matter.

Speaking of which, the Fantastic Four should definitely be in the mainline MCU, but I have said before and I will continue to say and believe that the X-Men/Mutants should be their own franchise under the FOX label. Find a shepherd for that franchise like Fiege has, is, and will continue to be for the Avengers and you’ll be great. Use Hulu do lower budget limited series for the B/C level mutants the same way Disney+ will be used for the B/C level of the MCU.

Yeah, I think they would have a hard time bringing Deadpool into the MCU fold in a way that did not piss off his fans.

I also think it's OK for the X-Men to mostly stay in their own world, with a steady hand managing the franchise. I don't like the fan ideas circulating about mutants being created by the snap or whatever.

Ok, let’s be honest here, how in the world can anything threaten a team-up of Dr Strange and Scarlet Witch?? They can bend reality and spacial dimensions to their will and she throws fireballs made out of mind stone juice.

Also, putting SW in a movie with Strange involving the multiverse seems like a way to get her back with Vision for the Disney+ series. Fair enough, I guess.

I do understand and for the last 40 years or at least since Claremont's run, the X-Men have been way ahead of relevance, sales, and importance than FF4.

After the first Avengers movie they did a company wide crossover called Avengers vs X-Men.

The only real significance the FF4 has had during that time has been to use Mr. Fantastic as a co-big brain along side Stark like in Civil War or the most recent Secret Wars when they wiped out the multiverse.

ETA that biggest selling point FF4 has is bringing in Dr. Doom not any of the main team.

Haven't technically the Marvel movies already operated under a separate banner like you're suggesting they do with Deadpool?

ETA I don't recall seeing a Disney logo before any marvel movie but it is late and I'm old

It seems like Marvel is just now having fun, which is a good thing. They aren't beholden to staple characters, they aren't sticking with formulas, this COULD be a really good thing for the MCU.

For anyone who was tired of "all the comic book films" there's your 2020 break with only one MCU film.

For the comments about superhero films getting stale, eh, I don't see how Multiverse, Shang Chi and Blade aren't kind of going nuts.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Mandarin confirmed and Tony Leung casted. That is huge. This could be a massive international success if done right. Shang Chi has been a lot of fun in the 2000s.

quote:

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (w/ Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch)

Going to get weirder. And Strange was an underrated film from the MCU. Yeah he's Tony Stark part 2, but man the movie was fun. They can do a lot with the magic world.

quote:

Blade (Starring Mahershala Ali)

There's a reason they saved this for last. With Shang Chi and Strange....they are going full on mystical. Here's the door for Moon Knight too. I'm going to guess Morbius is going to be a part of this one. Book it.

Black Panther 2
Captain Marvel 2
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Fantastic Four

No Ant-Man and Wasp 2 is odd. And this puts the next Spider-man out in 2024 most likely. Yeesh.

Spiderman push back is likely to keep Tom on contract while they figure out something about the Sony situation.

Are you anticipating Marvel getting the rights to Spiderman and co or just throwing a Sony's Sinister Six in there as well?
