Iron Man and Captain America were C listers Joe Q Public thought of as joke characters before Marvel made those movies.

If they made a black pantherette with Beyonce as lead it would triple the current highest grossing film of all time. Halle Berry in her prime would have easily done a billion dollars today.

No it wouldn't. Don't be stupid.

Halle Berry's highest-grossing film was X-Men: Days of Future Past, a film she was barely in.

And that film was 250 million dollars away from 1 billion

You have to go all the way back to 2002 (when she was in her prime) Die Another Day. This was a James Bond Film and her highest grossing Studio film in which she is billed as a lead actress. It grossed 432 million dollars.

These are movies aimed at 12 year olds. Why are you so upset?

Do I think this is necessarily their smartest move? No, as their readership dropped when they did a number of these dumber recastings of iconic characters. But there is at least a thought process behind it.

Not really arguing the sentiment here, but many of these recastings and switchups happened because of flagging readership. Also, there are a some great JaneThor comics.

With Disney in charge, it's going to get so much worse.

But posters have a point with new characters and things like Thor. If Hemsworth isn't doing it any more, and I'm not sure he is, they can only quit using that entire storyline or get another Thor. Getting another actor to play the same Thor would not go over well, so they're doing this. The girl power angle is, as always, bullshite marketing.

Same thing with Cap and Stark. Those actors are departing and they don't want to discontinue those whole story components. Although, with Cap, they should just end his character. Captain America is one guy, not a "mantle" that others pick up and continue.

And there aren't a whole lot of good characters left, at least, not on the level of the majors they've already used up. But, people never seem to get sick of this shite, so on and on it goes.

We don't know if that is the angle.

I think the angle, no matter how it's presented, is that the older actors are gone and they need to continue the Asgard, Stark Tech., etc. storylines.

But this is how stuff gets old and tired. Eventually, people will get sick of endless super hero movies with used up and contrived scenarios. Honestly, they should have by now.

beyonce has a net worth of 500 million dollars. everyone loves beyonce. She was the voice of Nala in the newest Lion King. There is a reason why she was cast.

People literally went to see the the 8th installment of Fast and Furious and it is a top 5 all time grossing movie.

You extremley understimating the type of people that would go see a movie where Beyonce is the lead superhero.

If done properly and marketed well it would sell. Hell if I were her i would finance the entire thing myself. She has the money

No it’s not.

Those movies made a ton of money though, but mainly in overseas markets

There’s no way you actually think a superhero movie with Beyoncé would bring in $6 billion+ dollars

Wrong.

Several other characters have gone by Captain America in the comics.

No one is freaking out about Blade.

As good of a story Thunder Jane was the premise was dumb.

Legacy characters are typically lame. Putting the laundry of one character on a “diverse” character lacks any type of integrity.

There are naturally outliers.

But why make Thunder Jane when Valkyrie and Sif exist?

She couldn’t commit to the time needed, but if she was BP 2 in as Storm...that would make more than the first one if she was any good.

not sure why this got downvoted, but I agree with him.

I haven't seen the last Spider-man movie. It's not that I don't like the character, as I do. And I like the current actor as Spidey.
I'm just done with this for awhile. I was invested in the Tony Stark story, that took a good 10 years to tell. Infinity War was great, Endgame was just ok, but a good stepping-off point.

I'll still catch things on TV, and depending on the film I might go see it in the theater (I like sci fi, so GOTG3 may get a watch). But I no longer feel compelled to watch every single film to stay up-to-date with the bigger story.

Natalie Portman as Thor or idiots showing how "open minded" they are by denying the stupidity of Natalie Portman as Thor
