2. The kid told his mom it was the same woman.. the lie didn't fit well in my opinion.

quote:You had everyone lying to Mare at some point. Frank, the deacon, Dylan, Jess, Lori and others holding info… Billy, John, Siobahn… Lori lying about who did it was kinda minuscule overall. And as Mare’s friend who now has to take care of a disabled child, a baby, and deal with everything, I don’t think she needed to be charged with anything. No DA would prosecute that unwinnable case.
I'm curious why Lori Ross didn't get arrested for lying to the police or otherwise obstructing a murder investigation, what, twice?

And in different locations, John at Franks engagement party and Lori and the High school Basketball celebration.

Meh, plausible - yeah, weak - definitely.
This was the bigger problem I had. John said he talked to Erin that night. Mare said no calls where made from Erin's phone to his. He tells her they each had burner phones. Ryan knew of the affair because he used his dad's phone. Are we to believe that John left both his own phone and his burner phone lying around the house? On top of that, not have it password protected? That he brought it with him to the party?
Also, John compartmentalize the fact that his son just killed his niece/lover, got his brother to help cover it up and then went back to the party unfazed? That's one sick hombre.

it showed Ryan entering the passcode to unlock the phone at the party

That's why as great as this show was, to go for some big plot twist at the end where, Ryan was the killer. Almost ruined it for me.
Keep it simple no one would have been upset with John being the killer. Now Lori has to raise the kid, that cost her both a husband( although a complete POS) and a son. Just sayin, Dylan might be in for a rough go.
I think Lori was going to just accepted John being a POS because she already knew he was anyway, and caring for Dylan because really she's a good person. But the fact that she also Lost Ryan is gonna cause some resentment.
I know some, maybe most liked the ending. IMO it sux as far as wrapping up the who done it. Lives destroyed just for an OH WOW!! moment wasn't needed. Look at all the plot holes it created!

Lives were already destroyed by this. Lori’s was going to suck regardless. Ryan’s life isn’t over and neither is DJs. Both kids still have a future. He won’t be in Juvy forever.

No way he would leave a burner around for anyone to find, much less his son knowing the passcode. Not when you are sleeping with your niece who you had a baby with. I mean there is carelessness and then there is that.

Can you bond out of juvy? Yeah, he will be out soon. Lori is the real victim.

I think Erin used her burner phone to call and text John's real phone and he was yelling at her for doing that. I think his lips said "You can't call this number" or something like that.

Hated this. It would've been such a more realistic ending for Dylan if they showed him using that envelope of money to buy drugs or something and getting arrested. This would show the depressing cycle of small town America.
I almost feel like it was forced to have some sort of humanity thrown back into the depressing ending.
My biggest bitch about the show is miniscule and unimportant, but Dylan's Bronco was wayyyyyyyyy too fricking nice for even his parents to buy their slapdick kid. They weren't rich, just not dirt poor. That was a crazy nice refurbished and tricked out Bronco and I know Dylan didn't put the work in himself to refurb it.

Sounds right. But why would he have Erin’s burner phone programmed into his regular phone and labeled “Erin”? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose by saving burner numbers with the person’s identity?

Did it say Erin? I can't remember.
I thought Ryan just read through the texts and figured it out using context clues. Or maybe didn't even know her identity until she got out of the deacon's car and he confronted her.
Or maybe he just posed as his dad while texting and got that info.

I’d have to rewatch to be certain. But I’m almost positive the caller ID said Erin.
