Neither have I. Here comes the part that always gets a downvote avalanche: E.T. looks like a dumb fricking movie.
How avant garde

Phoebe and Jennifer Jason Leigh have long lame conversations after work because you can't show Phoebe's tits on TV and Jennifer Jason Leigh's sex scene with Damone.
Was pretty hot for a 13 yr old back in the day !

There are definitely movies that people grew up with on TV that aren't in the theatrical version.
I remember seeing the Goonies on tv back in the mid 80's. It had the scene where they encounter the octopus/squid in the water by the pirate ship. I think they got away by putting a Walkman on him or something and it started break dancing. Never saw that version again.

Same with Empire.
Vader never says "Luke, I am your father."
The line is "No, I am your father."

“Be good”
I am a child of the 80's and this could be where I got that from. I end every goodbye with that phrase. Ok, see you next time, be good! I do it without even thinking about it.

I remember there was some weird shite where David Chase fricked a lot of people up at the end of The Sopranos. He legit mind-fricked people.
So when they are at the diner, they keep setting up that when someone walks in, you hear the bell. We see Meadow get there. We basically follow her as she parks, all the way to the door. We hear the bell, then cut to black.
I remember the debate online immediately after the show ended. Since our brains were trained to hear bell, see someone enter, many people remembered seeing Meadow actually walk into the diner, including myself. Thing is, that never happened.
This was a huge debate. People legitimately thought that they changed the ending for different viewings. Still to this day I’ve never had my mind fricked with like that, and it’s freaky as shite.
