When the most interesting thing in Superman Returns was the love triangle you know something is wrong.

Again, he is a comic book character. He's changed over the years. He's been killed and reborn. At one time he could only leap. His powers have been toned down, tuned up, etc. On and on. He has weaknesses that can be exploited. He's not a static character. Yes, he is "invincible" to most. I'm disagreeing that it makes him uninteresting, detached, and not able to translate to a screen.
If that's why someone doesn't like Superman, fine. It has nothing do with a problem translating to screen, then.

Mind blown.

I guess it's less of a "translate to screen" issue and more of a "it's hard to write an interesting Superman story" issue.

...for some. Because, I guess, for some reason people aren't satisfied with the most popular comic book character of all time. Which, at some point, has to be attributed to "interesting story telling".

EMPIRE

IGN

COMIC BOOKS

Can you tell I'm slightly biased...

No joke. Bad casting. Poor story. No originality.

Zac Snyder is hot garbage, so really not that surprising this would suck.

He should have caught the editing issues early but simply disregarded or missed them.

He came up with the story and helped on the script, but then turned it over to Snyder. He literally left the project all together after the script was finished.

Christopher Nolan didn't write the story. David Goyer wrote it. Christopher Nolan's role in this movie's production was as a glorified consultant. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think a lot of these critics are looking at this film with the ghosts of Donner and Reeve in the periphery. This is for a new generation with different expectations. I think it was amazing and Reeve's Superman was holy grail when I was a kid.
