With nothing else on wife and I finally started watching Mad Men. We are about 3 episodes in so far. Seems like there are a bunch of different story lines already piling up.

It gets better every season with an ever so tiny drop off during the last.

Pace yourself. The hot women just get hotter.

Peggy stays the same.

I wish I was watching Mad Men for the first time during this saga

Would be a great escape. Enjoy.

Such a good show. Don Draper is a good example of how getting everything you want, does not make you necessarily happy.

I’ve enjoyed it more with each rewatch.

Think I’ve rewatched it as a whole 4-5 times. And I’ll throw on a random episode from time to time when bored

Mad Men, to me, was fantastic.

Being a history buff, especially for the time period covered in the show, drew me in in initially, and I have to say that I think the makers NAILED it in terms of fashion, "look" and feel from that time (unlike, say, X-Men- First Class which was a jumbled mess that in little way resembled 1962). Throughout the run of the show they were on target with everything from hairstyles to music.

But the storylines were what got me. Subtle, not "in your face" but stuff everyone has experienced or knew about and could relate to: divorce, business, job opportunities, the work environment, the nature of family, children growing up, changing societal mores, and just the idea of "who are we in this world and what do we want?"-- which is key to the notion of advertising, the key business in the series.

Then there is the character of Don Draper, artfully played by Jon Hamm. A very complex and flawed individual; heroic and giving one minute, a selfish jerk the next. A man with a personal code of honor and decorum who constantly cheats on his wife. We get to share his journey from childhood (via flashbacks) to late middle age and see not only what made him the way he is and what got him to where he is, but mainly follow his journey through one of the most tumultous and change-filled times in American history, 1960-1972.

Enjoy the ride. I know I did.

Two things I always tell people with Mad Men:

1. It's a tough binge watch because you want to let things marinate between episodes.

2. Watch the whole first season. If you don't love it by the end of the first season, then it's probably not a show you'll finish. But you've gotta give it until "The Wheel" to get maximum Don Draper.

I love how Jon Hamm decided after this show to just be like “I don’t want to be a movie star, I just want to be the coolest mother fricker in Hollywood, and take fun cameo parts and live it the frick up”

And his recent episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" fits right in line with that philosophy.

Good show....fun to watch the change of the characters through the rocky 60's. And there is some awesome eye candy on that show....especially Draper's ladies through the years..he has great taste in women, but they are all a bit crazy like real life.

I hear em doing voiceovers in several commercials.

Still making millions and doesn't have to leave home.

Great show. You do have to accept that while a lot of various story lines develop, they tend to never materialize or just disappear in thin air. It’s badically mindless entertainment set in a great era.

It’s basically about the life of Don Draper.
