I just watched last nights episode.

I'm almost speechless about it...

I feel like a lot of people really bailed on this show early in the season. This is hands down the best writing on TV and if you have the adult patience to sit through the set up episodes you will be rewarded.

Hell, I've come to enjoy the set ups. They're like real life.

I don't think people have so much bailed. It's just this season has moved significantly slower then previous seasons (I think most would agree with that). It made up a lot of ground in this episode though.

Also anyone check the reference that Sally wants Don to leave Megan?

I must have missed this one?

I did catch how Betty was suprised/proud that Sally wanted her when something happened. She sort of gloated on the phone to Megan.

I'm hoping that Peggy's story is done. Let her show up next year with a husband or a kid, whatever. I'm no longer interested in her boring life and her lame hipster boyfriend.

I thought when she said "I wish he would leave her", that she was talking about Henry leaving Betty?

I would never bail on Mad Men...but being Season 5, I expected a little more development each episode...and slowly but surely it's delivered...I think when you have a long break expectations get raised too high...Mad Men just moves along and they decide what to show you...often moving past storylines you expect to be a see again...it's the only show I can ever remember where you can't go in thinking..."okay, this happened last episode so we must be here now in this episode." There's so many things that could be happening in different people's lives...you never know what personal life you're going to peek into that week.

I still think "The Man With the Miniature Orchestra" ending is the most poetic and best episode of the season. It revealed so much about Pete and his relationship with his discontent in life (despite his growing success) and Don.

Hell of an episode last night. I like the way they chose to show Lane Price's character the door. Once Don found out about his embezzlement there was realistically no other way to go. Suicide or he gets deported to England and thrown in the Tower of London. I loved the irony of the Jaguar not being able to do him in.

Yeah, when she showed him the Jag, I knew Lane was going to whack himself.

Am I the only one who LOL'ed when the car wouldn't start?

Let me say again watching Don and Roger wreck shop together is awesome.

Can someone remind me on why Cosgrove doesn't like Pete? I remember they fought over the job back when it was still just Sterling Cooper, but I thought they were over it.

Ken hates Pete most recently because Pete told the whole office about Ken writing short stories when Ken didn't really want too many people to know. Pete blabbing his mouth about the stories resulted in Roger scolding Ken because he thought he was spending too much time writing and not enough with clients.

I certainly didn't. That was fricking rough to watch. Jared Harris got across so much sadness and hopelessness in that scene with his facial expression and body language. Felt terrible that his life went to shite so quickly.

agreed. This season almost tops season 1 imho.

I will admit that when the jaguar wouldn't started i laughed alittle and thought of what ber cooper said about the vehicle. In the end, i felt bad for Lane and didn't see him going down that path.

With all of that being said I find it interesting that this is now the 2nd person that Don Draper has unintentional helped go down the path of suicide. I'd feel like a huge dick if i were him.

when he broke his glasses before he tried to start the car - that was pretty emotional, but, when he taped them together and was wearing them when he went to his office i laughed.

so I'm thinking the car would not start because he stopped up the exhaust?

great episode.. i did like last's week episode a little bit better..it might be because of the peggy-don scene.

I was wanting a reaction about Lane's death from Megan. I'm sure they will be past it in the next episode.

If you are talking about season 1, you are correct sir. It does extend to the fact that Ken was succeeding at the old agency, so Pete and Ken were rivals. Ken sort of mocked Pete from time to time there and Pete never forgot that. He put Ken in his place at the new agency when Ken decided he wanted to move there. Since the move, Ken has shown a growing distaste for the business, as he has other satisfactions in life.

There is some speculation that Ken will grow into a much bigger role now that Lane and Peggy are no longer on MM, but who knows?
