which is why he is saying they are a better comparison. Saruman and Sauron are two different characters.

Not really. Vader was good at one point and Sarumon was pretty much a douche from the start.

didn't realize this. hard to know who the better character is now. I mean, I'd probably give it to Vader, cause like I said before, he got to the point where he was destroying planets and not giving a shite. Vader was driven to that evil though, as it doesn't seem Saruman was. Don't know if that makes Saruman more evil though.

Star Wars is great, but even excluding the prequel tilogy, it is far more inconsistent and not as good of a trilogy as LotR, mostly thanks to the disaster known as Return of the Jedi. Return of the King on the otherhand ended perfectly, and people who think the ending wasn't good and had too many endings need to think 2 things through: a) a 30 minute ending for a 11 hour epic isn't that bad. Thats 1/22 of the entire trilogu b) The ending is much longer in the book and makes up 1/6 of the entire trilogy.

Vader was probably the "better character" just because his character was far more developed. But just for the sake of not admitting anything in Star Wars is better than anything in LOTR...

in so many aspects even though both are ground breaking movies and the best of their kind.
By the way I don't think we should consider star wars 1 2 and 3 in this discussion not horrible movies but comparitive wise to Star Wars 4 5 6 and LOTR 1 2 3 they suck
