They are both very powerful movies that are BOTH FANTASY and are both at their core Grail Quests.
I agree with another poster that this depends on your age. Oh, and Star Wars ages just fine. Saying Star Wars doesn't age well is like saying Casablanca doesn't age well.
Plus, Gollum annoyed me just as much as Jar Jar.

I think another big issue is Orcs vs Stormtroopers. Both are completely useless and get slaughtered by the dozens. Who trains these guys?

I'm going with Orcs cause at least they aren't shitty clones. Also, Orcs are just way more awesome, even if they are dumb as bricks.

They might as well be, they pretty much come out of a factory. At least a stormtrooper actually hits Leia in ROTJ. Does an Orc ever even get a piece of one the main characters in LOTR?

no idea...I'm not here to defend LOTR to the Star Wars nerds. BTW, I'm a fan of both, so I honestly don't see the hate for either one.
