They're the same person. You never saw Clark Kent & Superman in the same scene.

Started at page 31 and I see no mention of MIB going back on his promise to Ben at the end of the ep.

He tells him Ben gets the island when its over and 30 min later, he tells Ben he's going to destroy the island.

Can't be a screwup huh?

He never told Ben he would get the island in one piece or on the surface? Ben can still have it, he'll just have to dive for it.

He may be trying to trick Ben. Seems like he's always trying to lie and manipulate people to do things that they have no idea that they are doing, just like the submarine. He had no intention of leaving the island via sub. He only wanted them all there to kill them. My guess is that this "I'm going to destroy the island" is another "let's go get on the sub."

That kinda doesn't fly though. He flat out told him he would have the island and then said the opposite. There wasn't really any implication of another meaning. It was straight forward as you get.

I'm not bitching. I think it may be the sign to us that Ben isn't really on MIB's side since Ben didn't react when MIB said it.

I was just surprised there wasn't more discussion about it.

I f*cking posted this on page 33:

Another theory, but doubt it'll happen: I doubt Ben wants MIB to destroy the island and he'll probably do whats necessary to prevent that. Is it possible MIB is pulling a long-con to get Ben to kill him (similar to him killing Momma and her saying "thankyou")?

Found some people on another site talking about this:

Does Ben still have the walkie-talkie that Miles gave to him? If so, it's possible that Miles goes back to listen to a dead Widmore, finds out what Widmore told MIB, then phones it into Ben who can take action against MIB.

Chill out woman, I didn't see your post.

I think Ben is the con man here and not MIB but that's a decent theory.

shite! I forgot about the walkie talkies! Miles must've been the one to get Desmond out. Ben is the con man.

I don't think Ben knows anything recent about Desmond at this point. or Miles. Sayid took a while to "kill" Desmond. He probably let him out himself.

Then why does Sayid tell Jack that Desmond was still in the well right before he went out in typical Arab fashion with a bomb strapped to his chest.

Sorry...I had to do it at least once

You're right. Only Widmore had mentioned bringing Desmond there but not why and noone said he was in the well.

No, Sayid told them Desmond was in the well so he didn't let him out.

Is it me, or has a long time gone by between setting up for the concert and the concert taking place? Seems that you wouldn't put nice silverware out more than a day in advance. Meanwhile, Locke undergoes back surgery and a full recovery in this period, so how long of a time period are we talking about

It was mentioned several times. Try reading before page 31..though I don't remember exactly when or where it was mentioned. It's in here though.

My take is Jacob/Jack's job is to protect the island "from all threats, both foreign and domestic." This includes anyone who finds the island like the people from Across the Sea. Mother aslo alluded to others coming to the island and being a threat. They were probably taken out by the Protectors. It also includes MiB, a mistake Jacob made that could be very costly.

A lot speculation how Jacob's mother took out the whole camp last week. It's possible she has powers as the Protector of the Island that we didn't see. Powers that Jacob has and now passed to Jack. Maybe it's SmokeMonster-like, maybe ninja-like (as when Jacob took Richard apart), maybe they can turn into the Hulk. That would fit with the job description.

The look on Jack's face when Jacob told him "now you're like me" was a look of understanding. I'm assuming that a lot was transferred with that drink. Understanding for sure. Powers are possible.

I loved this episode. I didn't hate last week, but felt underwhelmed by it. Most of my issues are somewhat taken care of. There are still a million things I would like to know, but I think I'll get everything I need to know by Sunday night.

"you have to protect it from him"

it still doesn't make sense to me. what was knotty mommy hair protecting it from then?

I took it as Jacob was just responding directly to Sawyer when he said, "Your monster friend said there was nothing to protect it from". A natural response from Jacob is that it needs protection from "him"

I think the light will always need to be protected from the outside world (i.e. Darma). When Jacob says it needs to be protected from MIB, I believe he is referring to the current situation and its urgency. At that point Jacob knew that whoever took his place would be aware of the light's importance. It wasn't necessary to go into details (not like the writers ever do that anyway).
