Question: jacob said he was bringing someone to the island to help. Whidmore's intentions were clear last night in relation to MIB. Can we now conclude that Jacob brought Whidmore back to the island?

I'll be happy to settle for knowing that Desmond was the person that Jacob was referring to when he said that someone was coming to the island and that the person would find some way to get there.

Very pumped about this. Des-centric episodes are some of my favorite.

Just came across this

Prestor John

quote:

The legends of Prester John (also Presbyter Johannes), popular in Europe from the 12th through the 17th centuries, told of a Christian patriarch and king said to rule over a Christian nation lost amidst the Muslims and pagans in the Orient. Written accounts of this kingdom are variegated collections of medieval popular fantasy. Reportedly a descendant of one of the Three Magi, Prester John was said to be a generous ruler and a virtuous man, presiding over a realm full of riches and strange creatures, in which the Patriarch of the Saint Thomas Christians resided. His kingdom contained such marvels as the Gates of Alexander and the Fountain of Youth, and even bordered the Earthly Paradise. Among his treasures was a mirror through which every province could be seen, the fabled original from which derived the "speculum literature" of the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, in which the prince's realms were surveyed and his duties laid out

I am really looking forward to Sayid and Sawyer going at it. The first time Sawyer asks for Sayid's help to do something and Sayid just looks at him with a "I don't give a damn about anything" face should be gold.

Two things that I noticed last night (not sure if they have already been mentioned).

The writers are clearly hinting that Jin is the "Kwon" on the wall, and is the candidate. Lost "Untangled" indicated this already and when Jin and Sun went to check in at the hotel, since they weren't married, Sun wasn't using the name "Kwon." Why else would they have put this scene in the episode other than to show who the who the candidate is?

Also, in the flash sideways, I never realized this before but I don't think Sun knows or understands English. Her relationship with Jin is much better in the flash sideways. It doesn't seem like she would have cheated on him and met the guy who taught her English.

I must be forgetting some key piece of information judging from your response because my question is definitely not coming from overanalysis. If anything its coming from the fact that I have forgotten something important about Jacob's conversation.

Someone please remind me why this scenario is definitely excluded.

I find myself wanting more of the Miles/Hurley interaction. Miles' line last night, when someone asked if Hurley could track down Richard was great: ". . . not unless he is covered in bacon grease." The show needs a little more humor since most of the story-line is ridiculous anyway -- but I'm still hooked regardless.

Sawyer and Ben filled that void for quite a while, but Sawyer hates the world and Ben had a religious awakening so their one-liners are pretty minimal. Miles jokes and interactions with Hurley are great now.

When Sun took her shirt off they should have queued up "Ahh me so horny"

The close ups of the breasts were nice, I wonder if those were "stand-ins" though. They never really showed a front view with her face. At the end of the scene we get a side shot of them and that's it.

Could they be Wallace's breasts? (Sorry, Stu. I had to)

Here's something I noticed last night:

Sun is HAWT AZN. Not only that, but she is veeerry naughty and needs spankings.

Also, I sensed foreshadowing when Keamy tells Jin, "Some people just aren't meant to be together." Sun subsequently takes a bullet to the stomach possibly killing her unborn child and which could ultimately prove lethal for her in the alt time line. This leads me to conclude that there is high likelihood that could die before the season is over (on both timelines).

In the original timeline Sun would have died on the island because she became preggers while on the island. Thus, she had to leave or she and the baby would die. But if we are to assume that none of the Oceanic 6 were ever supposed to leave then island, could it follow that Sun and her baby were meant to die on the island? And because they were supposed to die on the island, will fate cause them to die in the alt timeline?

Sad? WTF are you talking about?

Look at page 3. WTF is this?

Or did I misunderstand something? If so, I apologize.

for most of us, it is/was blatantly obvious that the entire point was for jack to see the reflections

everything else, every word leading up to that, was purely crafted by Jacob to get to the end result. Yet, there are those out there that cant see this, they cant get past it, and completely misunderstand why Jacob brought Jack to the Lighthouse.

I, for the life of me, can't understand why this is so difficult to grasp.

If Jacob thought the best way to get Jack to see the reflections was to tell Hurley that the dial was covered in pudding, he would've done it. His policy of non-interference went right out the window now that he's a ghost. Would we really be dragging out a 30 page thread over pudding that wasn't really there? Judging by some of the posts, I think we would.

good point, but I think you mean to say "A" candidate, and not "THE" candidate. We're not sure yet

good observation

and I hinted at it last nite, and Decatur posted it just now. I cant quite see the connection, but something about the gunshot to the womb and her getting preggers on an island where women die - there's something to it, I just cant see it yet
