Not sure who the woman could be. Sun would have phased out like the rest of the losties.
Could be Eloise. Could even be Penny. What if Desmond was killed by Ben in his attempt to kill Penny and now Penny is out to kill Ben.
Of course it could be someone new.

Albert had a key part in "the purge" so i dont think he is as squeaky clean as we think. also he was in charge when the inhabitants killed off some of the army people

Okay, here's a theory about the woman with the bag on her head in the previews for next week.
It's Sawyer's ex and the mother of the daughter he told Kate to go and see. This is who Kate brought Aaron to for hiding, thinking no one would find them. But, someone did and brought them to the island.
I realize this is a little out there, but, that's part of the fun, eh?

I think that the Ben vs Widmore battle is a great one. I also have a suspicion that Ben and Widmore are one another's constants.
Anyhow, I think people are looking too much into Widmore's kindness. I think he and Ben are in the same spot.
They both love the island, and have spent much of their life there. Only thing is, we dont know how much Widmore spent there because we have only had one shot of him during his island life, but we know that Ben exiled him.
It goes back to, as theunknownknight pointed out in the father/son theory, that the most important people to the island are John, Ben and Walt. Each were brought in by the island at a young age, and so far Ben and John have had the chance to lead the island. When Ben tried killing John, it was Walt who came back to help John live. Those three have a connection that they will have to get more into.
As for Widmore, he was never a leader. He seemed pretty bossy and arrogant, and Richard told him to back down and "know his role". That was the first time we had seen Richard take that leadership role instead of the aide. Anyhow, Widmore claims he was a calm guy that was protecting the island, but he had a hydrogen bomb just dangling around at his camp? He also had quite the attitude. I think he and Eloise are just looking for the island after they left (i assume together, since they were the two characters in that jughead episode).
Widmore is jealous of Ben's ability to speak to Jacob and know the true meaning of the island, which id assume led to his exile.
As for Lockes death, Ben had to have known that suicide would have thrown off the process. He killed Locke to keep him safe. For people like Christian, Locke, Richard, and possibly others, the difference between being alive and dead IRL holds no weight on the island, so Ben wouldnt sweat killing Locke to save the island.
Also, the TIME magazine Cesar found at the station in last nights episode was from 1954. So perhaps now they are back in 1954.

The war that is coming is probably a war that has already happened. Perhaps one that widmore fought against ben which led to his exile. They are back in 1954, so the war is coming soon. With john on the island for it, things might go differently.

You'd hope, but they can't change the fact that Widmore was exiled, whether it was from losing this "war" or just losing control to Ben.
They can't change what has already happened. We just don't know how things happened.

Good overall read, but why do you include Walt in your analysis? He hasn't been around for awhile until this episode, right? It's been so long since he's been an episode, I don't remember why you claim he's so important to the island>? Am I not remembering something important that Walt did?

Yes, you are forgetting that orginally "the others" took children when Oceanic crashed. Then, after Walt and Michael and Sawyer and Jin went out to leave the island they kidnapped Walt.
At this time, Walt conceaded that they made him take test and answer questions. Ultimately, we learned that Walt was "special" and he even killed a bird with his mind once before his mother died.
They also reference John Locke as "being special" but Walt was the 1st to have this title.

THEORY ALERT:
Everything is back in 1954.
The difference: There are NEW people there now to fight the war.
Why did this happen? How could "fate" have changed?
The Variable
Desmond crashed the plane that started ALL this.
This was why Elois and Whitmore needed him on the island. They knew he could change things.
Recall: Elios gave him the advice when he bought the ring. Whidmore is the one who met him in the car to "pay him off" which sent him on the rampage to join the boat tournament.
BAH OOOOM!!!!

Well, if we are in current time, which I dont think we are.... there are three groups on the island
The others (John as the leader)
Flight 815 people
Flight 316 people
War between all of them for control of the island?

i disagree with this. in know way do i think John is in the past. JOhn and 316ers landed in the present on hyrdra island jack hurley and kate flashed to the past on the main island

I agree that John and the 316 folks are in the present and the O6 are in the past, but I think they are in the 70s/80s. The DHARMA hayday.
