In the past few weeks, weren't we able to find discrepancies suggesting that the nuke didn't cause the alternate timeline and sinking of the Island?

Not that I'm aware of, although it hasn't been completely confirmed the bomb was responsible, but it had to have happened sometime during the 70s or 80s if something did change things since the Barracks is on the ocean floor.

Some people think that the barracks were in too good condition to have been underwater for a long period of time and that that island may have sunk recently

I think the alternate LA timeline is of the MIB's creation. It seems people are given what they think they want most in life, but not true love. I haven't thought it completely through, but Sayid was able to see Nadia again, Desmond finally had Whidmore's approval, Driveshaft really took off (he said "You all everybody" was their first single implying they had more), and Daniel was able to pursue his love of music.

Nice. MIB has implied to Sayid that he knows of it, but you are correct that the alternate reality has a lack of love, aside from Locke marrying Helen, which could be an error to your theory.

Or Locke's true love is "adventure", not Helen. Remember how upset he was about being denied going on that hike/adventure thing in australia.

As I said I was just tossing an idea around, but as Ric Flair suggests, Locke definitely seemed to show more emotion with being able to walk/ go on an adventure, than he ever did with Helen.

Also Jin elevated himself from being a fisherman's son to a fine businessman.

I wouldn't go so far as to call Jin a businessman. He's still working for Paik, a lacky/bodyguard for a powerful business/underworld boss.

what if Desmond and Penny are Adam and Eve and their son, Charlie = Charles Widmore

So his daughter would be his mother?

just reiterate a point I suggested earlier

from an interview TVGuide just did with the actor that plays Desmond:
quote:

TVGuide.com: Is Desmond claimed like Sayid and Claire (Emilie de Ravin) are?
Cusick: No, absolutely not. He's not claimed at all. It's the polar opposite. Sayid and Claire have been claimed by the Man in Black. Desmond, on the other hand, has had an epiphany. He's enlightened. He has no fear of the Man in Black.

I hope that doesnt violate the spoiler policy

if it does, my apologies and I will take it down

ETA: FYI, a LOT of you were dead on in your assessment of this episode and some themes and theories(I wont say which ones) but if you look for the TVGuide interview, it only talks about last nite's episode and goes over some themes and what not, I wouldnt call it a "spoiler" - it may put some of your mind's at ease

I don't think it is and this is exactly what I concluded after that episode.

First off, fantastic episode last night. Definitely in the top 3 or 4 of this season IMO.

As for the quote above, it makes sense with the way Desmond acted in the last few scenes (ie. not needing Widmore to explain, his reaction to Sayid killing Widmore's people, his demeanor in the limo in the sideways world). Enlightenment has been a heavy theme throughout LOST's 6 year run, though we've only really seen it with some of the higher ranking Others (Dogen and Jacob himself). I can honestly say that I really don't know where they'll go with Desmond's character in the remaining episodes, but I can't wait to see what happens next.

I thought all of this was basically implied last episode

It was implied pretty heavily I think some people were just confused as to why Desmond went with Sayid so willingly at the end.

Not sure if any of y'all have been following the critic's episode reviews on Meta-Critic, but last night's episode is right up there with Dr. Linus and Ab Aeterno for the highest rated of the season. I usually check it out just to see how they assess each episode.

You know I was thinking, what in the heck happened to Jacks dad? Even when the plane lands he is still nowhere to be found.

I like to practice my farking skills at night and this was what I came up with tonight. I'm not very good with it yet, but I try. If anyone would like to use this as an avatar, feel free.

More importantly, someone tell me whether or not this is Nadia. I'm positive it is but can someone tell my why Locke is inspecting her house in his flashback? I never caught that the first time through.

Another weird moment was seeing this guy as both Hurley and Locke's boss in their flashbacks. I never noticed this either.

Probably old news, but its new to me.

He's dead both timelines and the Monster can't manifest itself into him anymore. It would be a travesty though if he didn't make at least one appearance in the final season. One thing I was counting on coming into this season is Jack and his father would have some form of closure, even with his death, and if he isn't present that can't happen.
