I went back looking for the spoiler i guess I missed it.
The show being non linear??
I guess if I said "Pulp Fiction is non linear" some would call that a spoiler. And yes some were calling out GOT book spoilers well after the show passed the books.

It taking sides, but I read it, and didn’t see how that was in anyway a spoiler
As you are the OP, I appreciate you saying that. I can assure you that, I - 100% did not spoil anything for you. We had some things mildly spoiled for us, because that's just the way the internet is - if you look something up from the show, every time there is a chance you will see some detail you haven't gotten to in the show. So, there is another caution for you.
But we knew, in advance, there would be these flashes. Being prepared for it did not remove the shock (at least for us, because the timing is unpredictable), but did allow for us to sort of embrace it in real time and process the new "style" of storytelling for the piece, until it returned to, sort of, base reality. I won't go any further, but if you come back and say, "Yeah, man, that was bullshite - I said no spoilers and you, Ace, spoiled the show for me", I will absolutely apologize. I just don't think I've given a single detail (for me spoilers are details - telling me that Twelve O'Clock High is about bombers and there will be a leadership crisis or two does not spoil the film for me - and that's more about that movie than I told you about Lost, IMHO.)
Good luck. After hearing all the whining from long time fans about the confusion at the end, the twists and turns, etc., we were very pleasantly surprised. Do I get why folks aren't crazy about the ending? Yes. Did it bother me and Mrs. Midnight? Absolutely not.

Longest debate on whether or not something was a spoiler in the history of Tigerdroppings.

At it's best, it might have been the greatest series in television history. At it's worst, it was borderline unwatchable. Average it out, it's probably ~top 50 all time and might be the most important tv series of the century. What made Lost special was it became a cultural phenomenon, similar to Game of Thrones, arguably paving the way for the latter. Watching each episode and sharing reactions/discussing theories with friends/coworkers became a staple of many people's daily lives. It also saved ABC and played a large part in the rapid growth of internet discussion forums

I forgot what movie it was. Some old 70s movie. I wish i could remember and in an OT thread someone mentioned the movie. Akin to spoiling Luke's father. And i remember the guy being called out for spoilers. And i was thinking about how anal movie spoilers can be.

The show being non linear??
A show like Dark is what I consider having a completely non-linear storyline.
Lost is one of my all-time favorites. And the only show I have ever completely rewatched start to finish a second time. It put Sci-fi/mystery TV shows on the map back in the early 2000s imo.

To me it comes down to:
Does a show HAVE to have a great ending to be ranked as great / totally worth watching, even if up until the ending it’s been a 8/10 or 9/10 or 10/10?
For me it’s a hard no- a great ending is great, but it may make up 5-10% of my final grade for the show. I can’t imagine watching a show I loved for 5-10 years, thinking the ending sucked, and then concluding that I’d totally wasted my time. Maybe it takes it from an A+ to an A-.
And to be fair, it was time for Lost to go when it went, and it probably could have been a bit sooner … like or dislike the ending, it’s clear it was less great in the last few seasons … but an elite show despite any of that.

Instead, watch Dark.
3 seasons and seriously one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen
Agree with this. Lost is a waste of time ...the payoff is not worth it, the show gets dumber and weirder as it progresses

Jersey Tiger got so pissed at me for the movie Red. The one with Brian Cox and his dog. I was pissed that the entire movie was in the trailer and it pissed me off. Some folks argued I couldn't get the ending so I explained the whole movie and Jersey got so pissed because he was positive I had seen the movie. I had not seen the movie. It was pretty easy watching the trailer to see the full progression of time and you could see the main character wasn't injured, then he was, then he was bandaged up.
People get a bit touchy with spoilers.
I am in the camp that talking about the various flashes IS a spoiler. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy.

Some people think in order for a show to be good the writers have to know the entire story from day 1. Morons.
No one is asking them to have an entire story arch written. A vague outline would help. No one writing Lost had a clue where it was going.

So… 2 Episodes left…. It was a chore getting thru…
Not crazy about all the backstory episodes in the last season…
You just have to accept
That it’s a show with like 5 different storylines (timelines).. pretty confusing, but entertaining

I think Lost had a general idea of where it was going to end. That being said, Bad Robot made the perfect sci-fi drama a few years later in Fringe. They had a plan, didn’t go too long, and final season was unreal TV.
