Lost ending is to the TV world as the Mass Effect 3 original ending is to the gaming world.
Opinions will be all over the place, best thing to do is give it a shot and if you like the series then keep watching.

Its one of those "enjoy the journey, not the destination" shows.
Some people were pissed about the ending. Others didn't mind it.
In my opinion its definitely worth the experience.
Plus you get prime Evangeline Lilly.

No, it's one of the most overrated shows ever.

So many good moments along the way. I couldnt imagine dealing with those cliffhangers for months at the end of each season.

Go reread your post to a guy who is "midway through S1" and say you didn't spoil anything.
It's a dick move.

You made the nonspoiler, non reader threads for GoT so unbearable I just read those long arse books.
I made them unbearable for saying readers shouldn't be in there posting spoilers? Interesting. To put that into perspective: You're siding with OML on that one.

Some people think in order for a show to be good the writers have to know the entire story from day 1. Morons.
Most writers are just praying to get a season 1. This show was created in the old movie serial format with cliffhangers. Season 1 was more like an old Saturday morning cartoon. The story gets MUCH bigger than running from polar bears and bees.
The acting is superb by many but not all. The musical score is one of the best of any tv show especially broadcast tv. Lot of fun twists. Some people hated the ending but I had no problem with it. It was not only worth the initial ride, it is good for repeat watching too.

I said there would be flash forwards, flash backs and flash sideways. That is not a spoiler in any model of the universe.
Good day sir.

if you truly believe this, then you're an idiot. Plain and simple.
You very very clearly did include spoilers for someone that isn't even through 1 season yet.

A lot of the love the show gets is nostalgia from people who experienced something different and unique 20 years ago with a new type of show and where they had to wait a week for each new episode so they would join internet groups (also somewhat of a novelty) discussing theories and clues about what was going on.
AUFANATL hit on a crucial point. The show was designed to be watched in the manner he described. I loved the show when it first aired. I did a rewatch a few months ago and I was astounded by how much it repeated itself and dragged along. It simply doesn't hold up to the current bingable format we expect nowadays.Having seen it a few times, I was thankful I knew what to FF through otherwise I'd be slogging through hours of backstory I didn't care about. There's no money to be made in it, but I wish the orginal producers would make a Netflix edit to the show, or hell, even a reboot.

frick you, too.
I spoiled nothing about Lost indicating there will be flash backs, flash forwards and flash sideways as plot devices, storytelling tools.
I said NOTHING about plot, twists, what happens with characters the OP already knows, characters yet to be seen, the lore of the show, concepts of the show. I didn't analyze themes yet to be explored or even already started. I didn't mention any lead or supporting character, or that character's future. I didn't describe if/how/when/where/under what circumstances any character might leave the show. Any character's final fate. Any technology discussion. Any spiritual discussion.
You can glean NOTHING about any significant spoilable feature of this show by my words in this thread.
Your and Cokes' delusions notwithstanding. Period.

No. One of the most disappointing endings ever. It was good till season 3 or 4 then after that it went off the rails.

What I’m saying is that the show is worth the watch, regardless if you like the ending or not.
I wasn’t thrilled with how it ended, but have no regrets spending time watching the show.

Spoilers..
One of the biggest reveals in the entire show.
Same here.
You're 100% wrong about not spoiling anything, and it's not even close. Even listing the "plot devices" for a show like this, is a huge spoiler for a first time watcher. And you're being obtuse. On purpose. But I guess I can almost respect your commitment to it in a weird way.

the fact that flash forwards or sideways even exist is literally a spoiler.

I suppose so is the fact that it involves plane crash survivors, a tropical island and some interesting character conflicts?
(ETA: It is the singular bit of knowledge we had going into the show that helped us to avoid confusion and frustration. Notice I didn't mention the mechanics of any flashes. Not the character interactions - how long or short the flashes would be - not how it would interact with the plot writ large - just that there would be them - and implicitly - a reasonably important fact of life about the show in later seasons. By your and Coke's standard, everything in this thread is a spoiler, your own posts included.)

The payoff? Maybe, maybe not. YMMV.
The experience? Absolutely.
I hope you have a cluckity, cluck, cluck time watching it.

Yes you did.
SPOILERS
While I agree that the flash backs are not spoilers, those happen every epeisode...the flashFORWARD at the end of Season 3 was a HUGE wtf moment in the show...the show had been programming you to expect flashbacks and then they hit you with a flashforward to shock you.....i mean, its the end of the season cliffhanger. If you dont think letting him know to expect flashforwards is a spoiler then i dont know what else to tell you.
The flash sideways are the whole plot line of the final season, its an obvious spoiler as well.
Mentioning flashbacks is fair game, the rest was a bad move. Just own it and move on.

Yes. I think it's one of the best ever, and it holds up well 20 years later.

Does the OP know what the flashes are about, who's flashes they are, how they affect the show, NO. The OP knows that he will see some history and some future. Some anal retentive people on here.

Spoilers
There's been a little speculation on reddit about a potential reboot.. obviously being on Netflix since July 2024 has rekindled some interest in the show. Most LOST fans would hate this idea, and I doubt it will happen, but let's say for a minute it does. What should they do with it? I'd imagine a new cast of unknown but charismatic actors, on the original island with a few cameos by the original actors. I imagine season 1 wrapping with 59 yr old Matthew Fox telling the new lead "come with me, we have a lot to talk about..."
